A rough, evidence-based estimate puts Blackburn Rovers at about £50 million to £60 million in headline enterprise value. That range applies a broad rule of thumb for English Football League club sales—about two to two-and-a-half times revenue—to Blackburn’s reported turnover of close to £24 million for 2024–25. It is an indicative calculation, not a confirmed asking price, offer or independent appraisal.
How the £50 million to £60 million estimate is calculated
Blackburn’s turnover for 2024–25 was reported at close to £24 million, up around 11%. Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has said that EFL clubs generally sell for roughly two to two-and-a-half times revenue. Applying that broad comparison gives an approximate range of £48 million to £60 million, rounded here to £50 million to £60 million.
The revenue figure is reported in Spark Intel’s analysis of the club’s accounts, as cited by BBC Sport’s 2026 report on Blackburn’s finances. Maguire’s multiple was reported by BBC Sport in 2025 in the context of Sheffield Wednesday; it is a general EFL rule of thumb, not a Blackburn-specific valuation. The latest full accounts listed by Companies House are for the year ended 30 June 2025, filed on 3 April 2026.
The calculation is useful as a starting point, but revenue is not profit and the multiple does not account for Blackburn’s specific liabilities, deal structure or the money a buyer might need to invest.

Why the club’s losses matter
Blackburn reported a £10.4 million loss for 2024–25. BBC Sport also reported operating losses of £21.4 million, £13 million profit from player sales and wages equal to 114% of generated revenue. The £13 million player-sales profit is a separate contribution; it does not mean the club made an overall profit. Maguire described the reported loss as “By Championship standards, it wasn’t that bad,” but the figures still show why a revenue multiple alone cannot establish what a buyer would pay.
A potential buyer would examine whether the club can generate sustainable earnings, how much funding it needs and what liabilities come with the business. These reported figures describe one financial year; they do not, by themselves, predict future results.

Enterprise value is not the same as what Venky’s would receive
The £50 million to £60 million range is best understood as a rough headline enterprise-value estimate: a shorthand for the value of the operating business before resolving the treatment of debt and owner funding. It is not a reliable estimate of the cash Venky’s would receive for their shares.
The final equity price could be higher or lower depending on the club’s debt, any owner loans or funding, liabilities assumed by the buyer, amounts forgiven, and any new investment required. The publicly established information cited here does not provide a current debt-and-equity calculation, so a precise share value cannot be stated.

Squad value and club value measure different things
Transfermarkt listed Blackburn’s squad value at €45.90 million as of 1 May 2026. That is an estimate of the playing squad’s market value, not a valuation of the club as a going concern, the owners’ shares or the price a buyer would pay. It also should not be treated as cash the club could necessarily realise through player sales.
Is Blackburn currently for sale?
No current public asking price or confirmed sale price is established by the available reporting. In April 2025, Blackburn COO Suhail Pasha said the owners did not want to sell at the time and wanted to support the club. CEO Steve Waggott said he had not received a genuine offer during his seven-and-a-half years at Blackburn. Those comments describe the position reported then; they do not establish the owners’ intentions in October 2026.

Waggott also said that a legitimate, fully fledged offer that fairly covered the owners’ time at the club could be considered. He did not name a price. The remarks, reported by BBC Sport in April 2025, are not evidence of a current sale process or a valuation.

- League status: Blackburn’s reported revenue and losses reflect its Championship context. Promotion or relegation could materially change the assumptions, but the available figures do not support assigning a precise promotion premium.
- Financial terms: Debt, owner funding, other liabilities and the buyer’s required investment would affect the price for the shares.
- Deal evidence: An asking price, a completed transaction and a squad-value estimate are different kinds of figures. The reported multiple is a broad comparator, not a disclosed Blackburn deal.
For historical context only, The Financial Express reported that Venky’s acquired 99.9% of Blackburn in 2010 for £23 million; contemporary reported transaction value including debt was around £46 million. That earlier transaction reflects different circumstances and is not a current comparable valuation.
