The original application deadline was 27 February 2024; Scroll reported that it was deferred to 3 March 2024. These dates and eligibility rules apply only to the 2024 recruitment. For a later cycle, check the Indian Coast Guard recruitment listing and its current notice.
What changed in the 2024 application deadline?
The official CGEPT-02/2024 advertisement set the application window from 13 February 2024 at 11:00 to 27 February 2024 at 17:30. Scroll reported on 27 February 2024 that the closing date had been deferred to 3 March 2024. The extension is attributed to that contemporaneous report; the official extension notice is not available in the cited material.
The application window has long since closed. The reported extension is not an active deadline, and the 2024 form cannot be treated as open now.
How many Navik (GD) vacancies were advertised?
The Indian Coast Guard advertised 260 Navik (General Duty) vacancies in CGEPT-02/2024. The advertisement allocated them by zone as follows:
#1 Best Overall

The same advertisement listed category totals of 102 UR, 26 EWS, 57 OBC, 28 ST and 47 SC. Zone and category figures describe the 2024 advertisement, not vacancies in a current recruitment.
What were the 2024 eligibility requirements?
The official notice invited applications from male Indian citizens. Its requirements were specific to CGEPT-02/2024:
Rank #2
- Education: 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics from a board recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).
- Age: 18–22 years, with dates of birth from 1 September 2002 through 31 August 2006, inclusive.
- Age relaxation: Five years for SC/ST candidates and three years for OBC non-creamy-layer candidates, only where vacancies were reserved for those categories.
These historical criteria should not be used to determine eligibility for a later cycle; its own notice governs.
What did the application and selection process involve?
Scroll’s 2024 report described an application fee of ₹300, with SC/ST candidates exempt. It summarized the application as registering on the official portal, completing the form, uploading documents, paying any applicable fee, submitting the application and retaining a copy. Those are past-cycle details, not current application instructions.
