What changed in the January 2025 CA exam schedule?
In an announcement dated 25 November 2024, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) rescheduled one Foundation paper: the 14 January exam was moved to 16 January. ICAI cited Makar Sankranti, Bihu and Pongal as the reason. The Intermediate timetable remained unchanged. Read ICAI’s announcement.

CA Foundation revised dates by paper
ICAI’s earlier Foundation guidance lists the paper order as Accounting, Business Laws, Quantitative Aptitude and Business Economics. Combining that order with the revised date sequence gives the following subject-date mapping. The November rescheduling notice itself lists dates but does not name subjects beside them, so this mapping is inferred from the order in the two official documents.

The original guidance listed Papers 1 and 2 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm IST and Papers 3 and 4 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm IST, with 15 minutes of advance reading time for Papers 1 and 2. ICAI said other particulars in its 20 September announcement remained unchanged, but the November notice did not restate these times. For historical reference, consult the original Foundation guidance; candidates should follow the applicable instructions and admit card for their own exam session.

Did ICAI change the January 2025 Intermediate dates?
No. ICAI explicitly said there would be no change to the January 2025 Intermediate schedule. Group I was set for 11, 13 and 15 January; Group II was set for 17, 19 and 21 January. These dates are also corroborated by contemporaneous reporting.
What did ICAI say about public holidays?
ICAI stated that the announced schedule would not change if an examination date were declared a public holiday by the Central Government, a State Government or a local authority. The announcement also said that other particulars in the 20 September notice remained unchanged.

ICAI’s January 2025 examination archive lists cycle-specific resources, including guidance notes, admit-card instructions, a city master, fee chart and important dates. Because that cycle is over, candidates preparing for a later session should check the notice and resources for that specific session on ICAI’s official website rather than relying on these historical dates.
