These laptop prices were reported during April 2026 promotions, not verified as available now. The roundup below preserves those offers as a historical price benchmark; before buying, check the retailer’s current price, configuration, warranty, and return policy.

The prices and configurations were reported in TechRadar’s April 8 roundup and April 14 roundup. Sale prices could expire or change; for example, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 was listed at $549.99 on April 8 and $529.99 on April 14.

Best laptop deals from the April 2026 sales

Laptop Reported April price Retailer Best suited to
Acer Chromebook 315 $159 Walmart Basic browsing and schoolwork
Lenovo IdeaPad 1 $299.99 Best Buy Light work and administration
Dell 15 $329.99 Dell Everyday Windows use
Asus Vivobook 14 $449.99 Best Buy Portable everyday computing
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 $529.99–$549.99 Best Buy Mid-range general use
Lenovo Yoga 7 $749.99 Best Buy Convertible, higher-performance use
Dell 14 Plus $749.99 Dell Premium productivity
MacBook Air 13-inch with M5 $949 Amazon or Best Buy Long-term everyday use

Best option under $200: a Chromebook

The April roundup included two inexpensive Chromebook offers. Walmart listed the Acer Chromebook 315 at $159, down from a listed $179. Best Buy listed an HP Chromebook 14 at $149, compared with a listed $329 price.

Both configurations were built around an Intel Celeron N4500, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. Those specifications suit modest needs such as web browsing, Google Docs, email, streaming, and basic schoolwork. ChromeOS relies heavily on web applications, so these are not sensible substitutes for a Windows laptop when you need desktop accounting software, demanding creative applications, extensive local storage, or serious multitasking.

HP OmniBook 3 17.3 inch Laptop PC, FHD Display, AMD Ryzen 3 30, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, AMD Radeon 610M Graphics, Windows 11 Home, Mica Silver, 17-dp0199nr
  • FULL HD IPS DISPLAY - Enjoy vibrant, crystal-clear images with 178-degree wide-viewing angles
  • AMD RYZEN 3 30 PROCESSOR - Everyday performance you can count on; Multitask, stream, game casually, and edit photos smoothly with responsive power and vibrant HDR visuals
  • ENJOY UP TO 14 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES OF BATTERY LIFE - HP Fast Charge restores battery from 0 to 50% in approximately 45 minutes
  • AMD RADEON 610M GRAPHICS - Experience smooth entertainment; Built for streaming and multitasking, enjoy realistic visuals and efficient performance for work and play
  • STORAGE AND MEMORY - 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD offers fast speed and efficient storage; and 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM memory boosts performance with higher bandwidth

For a budget buyer, the important question is not the size of the discount. It is whether the laptop supports the software you already use. A $149 Chromebook that cannot run a required Windows application is not a saving.

Best low-cost Windows choices

Dell 15: $329.99

Dell’s 15.6-inch laptop was listed at $329.99, down from $499.99. It included an AMD Ryzen 3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. That combination is more practical than the entry-level Chromebooks for everyday Windows tasks, including administration, schoolwork, video calls, and office documents.

The 512GB drive leaves more room for applications and files than a 64GB Chromebook. It is still an entry-level machine, so buyers should not expect strong gaming performance or comfortable editing of large video projects.

Lenovo IdeaPad 1: $299.99

Best Buy listed the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 at $299.99, compared with a listed $529.99. It had a 15.6-inch display, AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.

HP 14" HD Chromebook Laptop for Students, Intel Quad-Core N4120(> N4020), 4GB RAM, 64GB eMMC, WiFi, Webcam, HDMI, USB-A&C, 14 Hours Battery Life, Zoom, Chrome OS, CUE Accessories
  • Intel Celeron N4120: 4 Cores & Threads, 1.1GHz Base Clock, Up to 2.6GHz Boost Clock, 4MB Cache, Intel UHD Graphics 600. The perfect combination of performance, power consumption, and value helps your device handle multitasking smoothly and reliably with four processing cores to divide up the work.

This older model was described as suitable for general use, light work, administration, and schoolwork. The Ryzen 5 processor is appealing at this price, but the 256GB storage capacity is relatively limited. Anyone who stores photos, downloads games, or keeps large work files locally should budget for external storage or cloud storage.

Best mid-range value: Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 offered a stronger specification for buyers willing to spend more. It was listed at $549.99 on April 8 and $529.99 on April 14 at Best Buy. The configuration included a 15.6-inch display, AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.

That price movement is a useful lesson for shoppers: a retailer’s sale may not have one fixed price throughout a promotion. If a laptop is not urgently needed, record its model number and watch its price. Compare the exact processor, memory, and storage configuration; retailers often sell several versions under nearly identical product names.

Best battery-focused ultraportable: Asus Vivobook 14

The Asus Vivobook 14 was listed at $449.99, down from $749.99. It included a 14-inch display, Snapdragon X processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The April 8 TechRadar roundup quoted battery life of up to 29 hours.

“Up to” is the key qualification. Battery life varies with screen brightness, applications, wireless activity, video playback, and testing method. Treat the quoted figure as a product claim, not a guaranteed runtime. The 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD are more useful buying signals for most people than the headline battery number.

Before buying an ARM-based Snapdragon Windows laptop, check compatibility for any older specialist software, drivers, peripherals, or business applications you depend on. Compatibility matters more than it does with a conventional Intel or AMD model.

Best higher-end Windows deals

Dell 14 Plus: $749.99

Dell listed its 14-inch 14 Plus laptop at $749.99, compared with a listed $1,219.99, a stated $470 reduction. The configuration included an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB drive.

This is the strongest productivity-oriented specification in the roundup. The 1TB storage capacity is useful for buyers who keep substantial files locally, while 16GB of RAM is a reasonable target for multitasking. The value depends on build quality, display, battery performance, and ports, so do not judge it solely by the claimed dollar discount.

Lenovo Yoga 7: $749.99

Best Buy listed the Lenovo Yoga 7 at $749.99, down from a listed $1,049.99. It used an AMD Ryzen AI 7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. Its 16-inch display folds into tablet mode.

The Yoga 7 is worth considering when the convertible design will actually be used for reading, handwritten input, presentations, or cramped travel spaces. If the laptop will remain on a desk, a conventional model may provide better value for the same budget.

Best Apple deal: 13-inch MacBook Air with M5

The 13-inch MacBook Air with Apple’s M5 chip was listed at $949, down from $1,099, in both April roundups. The configuration included a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, 16GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD. The April 14 roundup called $949 a record-low price at that time.

The listed sellers were Amazon and Best Buy, not Apple directly. That distinction matters when comparing financing, trade-in credits, return windows, and warranty support. Buyers should also check whether their existing Windows software has a macOS version before switching platforms. A MacBook can be a strong long-term purchase for general productivity, but software compatibility and accessory costs belong in the total budget.

How to evaluate a laptop discount

  1. Check the exact configuration. Confirm processor, RAM, storage, display resolution, and operating system. A model name alone is not enough.
  2. Compare the current price at several retailers. The IdeaPad Slim 3’s reported April price changed by $20 in six days, showing why a single “was” price can be misleading.
  3. Separate real savings from a reference price. A retailer’s former price is not necessarily the model’s normal market price or an independently verified price history.
  4. Include the total cost. Account for sales tax, shipping, accessories, Microsoft 365, cloud storage, protection plans, and any required adapters.
  5. Review returns and warranty coverage. Confirm who handles warranty service and whether the item is new, open-box, refurbished, or sold by a marketplace vendor.
  6. Buy for the workload, not the discount percentage. A cheap Chromebook is suitable for web-based tasks; it is not automatically a bargain for software-heavy work.

What happened to the April promotions?

Best Buy’s April promotion was called the “Ultimate Upgrade” sale and included hundreds of deals and additional trade-in bonuses. The April 14 roundup said most offers were expected to run until the sale ended on Sunday, but individual products could sell out sooner. The April 8 roundup covered offers from Walmart, Dell, Best Buy, and Amazon.

These were temporary promotions, so the prices above should not be treated as current offers. Check each retailer before relying on any figure, and be cautious with listings that show a large reduction from a “regular” price.

FAQ

Are these laptop deals still available?

Not necessarily. These prices were documented during April 2026 promotions and have not been verified as live now. Retailer prices, inventory, and configurations can change or disappear.

Which April laptop deal was best for basic use?

The $159 Acer Chromebook 315 and $149 HP Chromebook 14 were the cheapest options for browsing, streaming, light administration, and schoolwork. Their 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage make them unsuitable for demanding software and heavy multitasking.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which laptop offered the best balance of price and specifications?

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 was a strong mid-range value on paper, with a Ryzen 7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It was listed at two different Best Buy prices—$549.99 and $529.99—during April.

Should I trust a laptop’s listed discount?

Treat it as a comparison clue, not proof of a bargain. Check the exact configuration, compare prices across retailers, and look at returns, warranty terms, shipping, and total purchase cost. A listed former price is not the same as an independently verified market price.

The Bottom Line

The April roundup covered options from $149 Chromebooks to a $949 MacBook Air. For the lowest cost, the Chromebooks suited basic web-based tasks; the Dell 15 and Lenovo IdeaPad 1 were more flexible Windows choices. The IdeaPad Slim 3, Dell 14 Plus, Lenovo Yoga 7, and MacBook Air offered stronger specifications at higher prices. Since every cited deal was temporary, verify the live price and configuration before treating any discount as a saving.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
