“I created jobs to keep Americans employed” is the title of a July 2005 EE Times feature credited to Richard Johnson. The available archive identifies the article as a discussion of job creation and layoffs amid U.S. companies’ profit policies, but it does not establish which companies or jobs Johnson examined—or what conclusion he reached.
What the title refers to
EE Times’s July 2005 archive lists Richard Johnson’s feature, “I created jobs to keep Americans employed,” with a July 11, page 30 reference. The archive’s July 25 entry, “Layoff turns a discarded employee into a successful competitor,” points back to Johnson’s feature.
That later entry offers a limited description of the subject: it says the feature depicts short-term profit policies at well-known U.S. companies. This is the archive’s characterization, not a verified summary of Johnson’s evidence or argument. EE Times’s July 2005 archive
What can—and cannot—be concluded
The title suggests a first-person account of creating jobs to preserve American employment, but a title alone cannot establish whether that is the article’s argument, an interviewee’s words, or a description of a particular case. The available archive reference does not identify the companies, explain what jobs were created, describe Johnson’s methods, or state the feature’s conclusion.

Accordingly, the defensible takeaway is narrow: the feature appeared in EE Times in July 2005, and a July 25 reader-response entry associated it with layoffs and short-term profit policies at U.S. companies. It should not be used as evidence for claims about any named employer or the broader effects of layoffs without the original feature.
