The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) Group C application period for the 2023 recruitment drive is closed. HSSC revised the advertised total to 31,902 posts, but the original exam schedule later changed; the reports available do not establish the final calendar. This is a historical notice, not a live application announcement.

What the 31,902-post figure meant

HSSC’s revised advertised total was 31,902, up from 31,529. The commission notice, as quoted in a March 2023 Scroll.in report, said the posts covered 401 categories arranged into 63 groups. These were advertised vacancies across departments, boards, corporations and commissions—not a count of appointments made.

The April report listed several of the categories and reported vacancy figures below. They are representative examples, not a complete or independently verified final vacancy chart.

  • Common Graduate Level: 6,392 posts
  • Higher Secondary Level: 5,762 posts
  • Stenographer: 1,647 posts
  • Fire Operator-cum-Driver: 2,063 posts
  • ALM/Shift Attendant/Electrician: 6,486 posts
  • Staff Nurse: 1,554 posts
  • Junior Engineer (Civil): 880 posts

Scroll also reported 3,57,562 candidates as qualified in the Haryana CET 2022 exam; that is a reported candidate count, not a count of applicants or vacancies.

Application and exam dates: the historical timeline

  • April 15, 2023: The Times of India reported that registration began on this date.
  • May 5, 2023: Scroll reported this as the application deadline. Applications are no longer open.
  • May 13–July 15, 2023: The April report gave this as the planned examination window.
  • July 1–2, 2023: HSSC later postponed the written examinations scheduled for these dates, citing administrative grounds. Scroll reported that new dates would be announced; the reviewed reports do not establish the eventual final exam calendar.

The original exam window should therefore not be treated as the final schedule. Candidates checking an old application page or date notice should use current HSSC announcements or the official archive for any later update.

What the reported application process involved

In April 2023, Scroll described this process for applicants at the time. The instructions are historical; the old application route should not be assumed to work now.

  1. Visit the HSSC website and choose “APPLICATION FORM FOR RECRUITMENT TO GROUP C POST(S).”
  2. Log in using the registration ID and date of birth.
  3. Select the desired post, complete the application and upload the required documents.
  4. Review and submit the form, then save or print the submitted copy.

Eligibility depended on the specific post

The drive covered hundreds of post categories, so a general qualification statement cannot establish eligibility for every role. The reports do not provide a complete, post-by-post account of educational qualifications, age limits, reservation rules or other conditions. Check the original official notification and revised vacancy chart for the relevant post before relying on an eligibility claim.

Why reports differ on fees and selection

Contemporary coverage was inconsistent on these details. Scroll reported no application fee and a 100-mark scheme allocating 97.5% to the written examination and 2.5% to socioeconomic criteria and experience. The Times of India reported fee amounts and a written examination followed by an interview. Those accounts do not establish one definitive fee rule or final selection process for all posts. The original official notice is the necessary reference for those specifics.
