The HPPSC Environment Officer 2024 application is closed. The original deadline was 31 December 2024; a limited extension to 5 February 2025 applied only to eligible M.E. Civil Engineering candidates who had not applied earlier. HPPSC has since held the selection tests and issued appointment recommendations. Check the official HPPSC website for current vacancies; the old application link is not a route to apply now.

Is the HPPSC Environment Officer application still open?

No. HPPSC issued Advertisement 26/12-2024 on 4 December 2024 for 12 Environment Officer posts. The original application and fee deadline was 31 December 2024 at 11:59 PM. On 29 January 2025, the Commission announced a limited reopening through 5 February 2025 for eligible candidates with an M.E. in Civil Engineering who had not applied previously, following the state’s clarification that the degree was equivalent to M.Tech. Civil Engineering. Candidates who had already applied were told not to apply again. Neither deadline is current.

HPPSC held the screening test and Subject Aptitude Test on 5 June 2025. On 1 November 2025, it reported that 28 candidates had qualified for the Personality Test. On 19 November 2025, it issued appointment recommendations and said one unreserved post remained vacant, subject to the final outcome of CWP 17700/2025. That notice did not reopen applications, so the remaining post should not be treated as a current vacancy.

What were the post, pay and vacancies?

The 2024 advertisement was for contract-basis Environment Officer, Class-I (Gazetted) posts in Himachal Pradesh’s Department of Environment, Science, Technology and Climate Change. HPPSC advertised a Pay Band Level 16 of ₹48,700–₹154,300. These are figures from the historical notice, not confirmation of present vacancies or pay for a future recruitment.

The 12 advertised posts were distributed as follows:

  • Six unreserved posts.
  • One each for HP SC, HP ST, HP OBC, HP EWS, HP unreserved ex-serviceman, and HP blind-category candidates.

Reservation and fee concessions under the notice were not available to candidates from other states, who were treated as general-category candidates. Applicants needed to meet the notice’s domicile and certificate conditions for any applicable category benefit.

What qualifications and experience were required?

HPPSC’s original notice required one of the following qualifications from a recognized university or institute:

  • M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Botany;
  • M.Tech. in Environment; or
  • M.Tech. in Civil Engineering.

The state later clarified that M.E. Civil Engineering was equivalent to M.Tech. Civil Engineering for this post. HPPSC’s limited extension was specifically for eligible M.E. Civil Engineering holders who had not applied by the original deadline; it was not a general reopening.

The notice also required at least five years of relevant experience after the M.Sc. or M.Tech. Examples of qualifying work included:

  • Formulating and implementing environmental projects or programmes;
  • Preparing environmental-management feasibility reports;
  • Environmental analysis, monitoring, or surveys;
  • Research and development in the environment or climate-change sector; and
  • Protecting or conserving natural and biological resources.

What were the age and category conditions?

The advertised age range was 18–45 years, calculated as of 1 January 2024. The notice allowed a five-year upper-age relaxation for specified Himachal Pradesh categories, subject to the applicable conditions and availability of reserved posts. This age date and the related category rules belong to the 2024 advertisement; they should not be assumed to apply to a future HPPSC opening.

Where should you look for new HPPSC vacancies?

Use HPPSC’s official recruitment website and its One Time Registration (OTR) portal to check for a new live advertisement. HPPSC’s stated application route is online through OTR; it does not accept applications submitted through other modes. Do not rely on a third-party page’s stale “apply now” link for the closed 2024 recruitment.

When a new advertisement is published, follow its own eligibility and document instructions. The 2024 notice listed documents such as a matriculation certificate for age proof, degree certificates and mark sheets, experience certificates where required, and applicable category and Himachali bonafide certificates. Those historic requirements are not a substitute for checking the document list in a later notice.
