HPCL’s Recruitment of R&D Professionals 2024-25 closed on 20 July 2024 at 23:59. The notice advertised 29 vacancies, but the application window has passed; applicants can no longer apply. The qualifications, experience and age limits depended on the specific post.
Was 20 July 2024 the last date to apply?
Yes. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) accepted online applications from 09:00 on 5 June 2024 through 23:59 on 20 July 2024, according to its official recruitment notification. The date was also reported as the final application day in Scroll’s coverage published on 20 July 2024.
This was a recruitment drive for R&D professionals for 2024-25, not a general recruitment form that remains open. HPCL’s 2024 application period is over.
Which posts and how many vacancies were advertised?
HPCL advertised 29 R&D vacancies across specialist and management roles. Positions covered research and technical disciplines as well as leadership posts, including:
#1 Best Overall
- General Manager R&D and General Manager, R&D Centre of Excellence in Lubes Research
- Deputy General Manager–Analytical
- Chief Manager/Deputy General Manager–Solar Energy
- Senior Manager/Chief Manager–Combustion Research and Senior Manager–Advanced Technical Services
- Roles in bio-process, hydrogen, novel separations, analytical research, bitumen, combustion research and catalyst scale-up
For the full role-by-role vacancy breakdown, use HPCL’s detailed notification; the titles above are not a complete vacancy table.
What qualifications and experience did candidates need?
There was no single eligibility rule for all 29 vacancies. HPCL set qualifications, minimum experience and maximum age separately for each position, along with category-related conditions. Candidates needed to check the exact post and applicable criteria in the official notification.
Rank #2
For example, the General Manager R&D and GM Lubes Research listings required a relevant PhD and at least 18 years of experience. Other technical officer and assistant-manager roles had different postgraduate-degree and experience pathways. Those examples should not be treated as requirements for every role.
What was the application fee?
The 2024 notice set the following fee rules:
- UR, OBCNC and EWS candidates: ₹1,180, non-refundable, plus any applicable payment-gateway charges. This comprised a ₹1,000 application fee and ₹180 GST at 18%.
- SC, ST and PwBD candidates: exempt from the application fee.
These amounts and exemptions applied to the 2024 recruitment notice, as specified by HPCL in its notification.
Rank #3
How did the application and selection process work?
HPCL required candidates to apply online through the Careers/Current Openings section of its website; other application modes were not accepted. The selection process included a computer-based test (CBT) followed by later assessment stages, including a group task and/or interview as applicable. HPCL cautioned that being shortlisted on the CBT alone did not guarantee an interview.
The notice also warned that incomplete or incorrect applications could be rejected. A fee paid for an incomplete application could be forfeited, and discrepancies in eligibility documents could lead to disqualification.
Rank #4
Where can candidates find current HPCL vacancies?
As of 8 October 2026, HPCL’s official job-openings page lists later recruitment activity, not an open application window for the 2024 R&D drive. Any newer notice is a separate recruitment with its own posts, dates and eligibility requirements. Check HPCL’s page for current openings and rely on the notice attached to the specific vacancy.
