WWE talent compensation can include a contract guarantee, payments tied to event appearances, and royalties on some licensed products—but the details depend on the individual contract. One public contract exhibit describes a $500,000 minimum annual guarantee and narrowly defined product royalties; it is an example, not a company-wide pay scale. WWE’s often-cited average earnings figure dates to 2011, so it is not a current estimate.
How do WWE wrestlers get paid?
The available contract evidence points to several possible components: a guaranteed minimum, event-related compensation, and royalties on specified licensed products. A performer’s contract determines which terms apply and how payments are calculated. WWE’s company revenue figures describe the business, not what an individual wrestler receives.

Do WWE Superstars get a guaranteed salary?
A WWE-hosted contract exhibit includes a “Minimum Annual Compensation” guarantee of at least $500,000 per contract year, paid in 52 weekly installments. Under that agreement’s terms, specified earned payments are credited against the minimum. This is a term in one contract, not evidence of a universal or current WWE minimum. Do WWE wrestlers get paid for each match?
The same contract exhibit says WWE may determine compensation for talent appearing at a taped or broadcast event. It describes the amount as consistent with the nature of the match—such as preliminary, mid-card, or main event—and company standards. That language is specific to the agreement; it does not establish that every WWE performer receives a separate fee for every match, or show what any such payment amount is.
Do WWE wrestlers get royalties from merchandise?
The exhibit provides for royalties in particular licensed-product situations. It specifies 25% of defined net receipts for certain products featuring only the talent’s intellectual property, with a pro-rata allocation when multiple talents appear. The contract defines net receipts after certain expenses are deducted from amounts received by the promoter. It also excludes TV licensing, advertising, and distribution fees from these product royalties. The rate is therefore not 25% of retail sales, and it should not be treated as a universal WWE merchandise royalty.

WWE lists consumer-product categories including apparel, accessories, toys, replica championship titles, and novelty products on its official products page. That catalog does not establish that a particular purchase generates a royalty for a specific performer.
Do WWE wrestlers pay their own travel expenses?
There is no universal expense policy established by the sources cited here. In a 2025 report, former WWE talent Priscilla Kelly described expenses including hotels, travel, food, gear, and body care. That is her account, not proof that all WWE performers pay the same costs or that the arrangements remain the same across contracts. eWrestling’s report on Priscilla Kelly’s account.

Is the often-quoted WWE average salary still accurate?
No current average is established by the sources here. WWE’s 2011 “Setting The Record Straight” page stated, “The average active roster WWE Talent earns more than $550,000 annually.” This was WWE’s own claim at that time, not an independently established figure or a current estimate. Why WWE’s revenue does not reveal a wrestler’s pay
WWE’s 2022 annual filing describes company revenue from content rights, live events, consumer-product licensing royalties, and direct merchandise sales. Those business-wide revenue streams cannot show how much a particular performer earns: individual compensation depends on contract terms, and company revenue is not the same as a wrestler’s gross pay or take-home income.
