Mark Stott took over Stockport County in January 2020, according to the club’s official careers page. Companies House lists Mark David Stott as an active director of Stockport County 2010 Limited from 31 January 2020 (Companies House officer record).
When the takeover was announced, Stott said he wanted to help the club fulfil its potential and create “a more sustainable model” with stronger ties to the local community (Stockport County’s January 2020 announcement).

BBC Sport identified Stott in January 2020 as the founder and chief executive of Cheshire-based Vita Group; the company’s current leadership page identifies him as CEO. A 2025 HR Ratings report on a Vita Group financing transaction described Stott as holding 75% of the economic rights and 100% of voting rights (HR Ratings report). A 2022 profile in Building described Select Property Group as a developer of build-to-rent and student housing. It reported the group’s claim that it had sold 3,000 properties in Manchester, raising £890 million (Building’s profile).
