Reading FC’s current owner is Redwood Holdings, not Dai Yongge. The takeover completed on 14 May 2025. For Yongge, the former owner most often associated with the club’s financial problems, the sources available do not establish a reliable current personal net-worth figure.
Who owns Reading FC now?
Redwood Holdings 1 Ltd became Reading FC’s person with significant control on 14 May 2025, the same date Renhe Sports Management Ltd’s control ended and Dai Yongge’s directorship was terminated, according to Companies House records.
Reading announced a sale in principle on 3 May 2025. After EFL clearance, Redwood Holdings completed the acquisition on 14 May. The buyer, a subsidiary of Dogwood Football LLC, acquired all of the club’s shares as well as the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park training ground. Dogwood is owned by Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair, and Couhig became chairman, BBC Sport reported.
Is there a reliable estimate of Dai Yongge’s wealth?
No reliable, current estimate of Dai Yongge’s personal net worth is established by the sources reviewed. Forbes China’s 2025 mainland rich-list page does not list him with a wealth estimate. That absence does not establish that he has no wealth; it simply does not provide evidence for a figure.
#1 Best Overall
- Jacquard knit scarf
- 100 % acrylic
- Approx 132cm x 19cm
- On a header card
- Official licensed product
In 2023, the EFL described Yongge Dai as Reading FC’s ultimate beneficial owner in its disciplinary decision. That was a historical description and does not mean he still controls the club.
Why Reading’s financial figures do not tell us his net worth
A football club’s losses, borrowings and share issues are company-level figures. They do not show an owner’s personal assets, debts or net worth, and they should not be presented as a measure of Dai Yongge’s wealth.

- BBC Sport reported that Reading recorded £146 million in losses over the five years to June 2022 and issued £82 million in shares since Dai took control, citing Companies House figures. These describe the club’s finances and capitalisation, not Dai’s personal balance sheet. BBC Sport’s 2023 profile provides the context.
- Reading’s accounts for the year ending 30 June 2025 showed a £3.8 million loss, £9.8 million in revenue, a £12.4 million wage bill and total borrowings of £130.6 million, according to BBC Sport. These are club figures for an accounting year that included the ownership transition, not a valuation of the former owner’s private wealth.
What can be said with confidence
