To withdraw GoFundMe donations, open the fundraiser’s Transfers section, choose who will receive the money, and complete the identity and bank verification requested through the payment partner. After approval, eligible donations are sent automatically by direct deposit. The exact instructions depend on your country, recipient type and account review.
How to set up a transfer to your own bank account
- Log in to GoFundMe and open Your fundraisers, then select the fundraiser.
- Open Transfers. The navigation may differ slightly for accounts outside the US.
- Choose Your bank account and confirm your email address if prompted.
- Select Get started and follow the link to the payment partner portal. GoFundMe’s instructions currently identify Adyen or Stripe as the processor.
- Enter the personal and bank information requested. Use a name that matches your government-issued identification and bank account. Provide the bank details required for direct deposit or ACH, as applicable—not a wire-transfer number.
- Check Transfers and your email for verification requests or a red alert. Submit requested documents through the account’s official flow.
Personal recipients must be over 18. GoFundMe may request valid, unexpired government-issued ID and official bank documentation. Depending on location and processor, requested details can include your full name, address, phone number, email, birth date and country-specific identifiers. Follow the fields shown in your account rather than assuming one document list applies everywhere. GoFundMe’s transfer setup instructions explain the current flow.
Choose the right person or organization to receive the money

How long GoFundMe withdrawals take
There are separate waits for donation processing, verification and bank delivery; do not treat them as one guaranteed arrival date. GoFundMe says an individual donation can take up to five business days to process before inclusion in a transfer. Once sent, a transfer generally takes two to five business days to reach the bank. Verification may take up to seven business days or longer. Weekends and holidays do not count as business days in GoFundMe’s personal transfer guidance. GoFundMe’s timing guidance provides these estimates.
Transfer frequency and deadlines
After verification, transfers are automatic; GoFundMe says it does not issue cheques. Available schedules include daily, weekly and monthly. Weekly transfers initiate on Mondays and monthly transfers on the first day of the month, according to GoFundMe’s frequency guidance. The first transfer may begin after verification; later transfers follow the schedule selected.

Complete verification by the deadline displayed in your fundraiser’s Transfers section or in GoFundMe’s email notice. Missing an account-specific deadline may result in donations being automatically refunded. There is no single deadline to assume for every fundraiser.
Fees and how much you receive
Creating a GoFundMe fundraiser is free, but transaction fees are deducted from donations. For a US donation example, GoFundMe shows that $48.25 from a $50 donation remains after a 2.9% + $0.30 transaction fee. This is GoFundMe’s US example, not a universal rate; fees vary by country. Check GoFundMe’s country-specific pricing for current amounts. Donor tips are separate from transaction fees and may be set to zero by the donor.

Fix common transfer problems
- Your name does not match: Check that the personal information matches your ID and that the bank account belongs to the recipient completing setup. Do not enter another person’s bank details as though they were yours.
- Transfers are paused or documents are missing: Look in Transfers and your email for a red alert or document request, then upload the requested material through the official account flow. GoFundMe lists possible verification requirements in its personal bank transfer guidance.
- A beneficiary cannot finish setup: Confirm that the person meets the current eligibility requirements and has a qualifying bank account in the fundraiser’s currency. Follow the eligibility details in GoFundMe’s beneficiary guidance.
- No authorized organization contact is available: The organizer may need to receive the money and pass it to the organization outside GoFundMe. Explain this intended onward transfer in the fundraiser story, and see GoFundMe’s organization guidance.
- You are unsure of the deadline: Use the date in your own Transfers section or notification email rather than relying on a general estimate.
