To use the benefit, find an eligible station in the Walmart app and follow that station’s redemption method—scanning a pump QR code, entering a discount ID or using a linked Club CITGO account. Discounts and payment steps vary by station and location.
Before you drive to a station
- Update the Walmart app and enable Location Services.
- Open the Walmart Store Finder and look for a participating fuel station near you.
- Set up Walmart Pay and add a payment method if the station’s app flow requires one.
- Check the fuel benefit in the app for the discount and instructions available at that location.
Walmart advertises up to 10¢ per gallon at participating stations. In Alabama, the advertised discount can be 5–10¢; Walmart Help says select Alabama stations offer 5¢. Check the app rather than assuming every location offers the same amount.

Use the redemption method for your station

Know what the savings figures mean
Walmart reported that the CITGO addition announced September 14, 2026 expanded its participating-station network from 13,000 to more than 17,000. Walmart also reported average annual savings of $109 for a specific group: members with at least 12 months of membership who used Gas Savings at least once a week from March 2025 through March 2026. That is an average for this qualifying cohort, not a guaranteed or typical amount for every member.
For other stations, Walmart Help lists no gallon cap. The CITGO limits above are stated separately by Walmart. At Sam’s Club, the value is the club member price rather than an additional Walmart+ discount.

Why the discount may differ or not appear
Walmart’s membership page advertises 10¢ per gallon generally and 5–10¢ in Alabama; its benefit help page says up to 10¢, with select Alabama stations at 5¢. Treat the amount shown for your station in the app as the practical guide. Walmart’s Terms of Use say fuel discounts and promotions can change, vary by location and depend on state fuel-pricing laws. The terms also allow for discounts not to apply in some cases because of fraud or operational controls.
If the discount does not appear, confirm that the station participates, that you used its required redemption flow, and that you scanned the QR code where required before paying or fueling. For a new Nexus pump, do not substitute a card tap or insertion for the QR scan.

What the CITGO expansion adds
CITGO joined the fuel benefit on September 14, 2026. In Walmart’s announcement, CITGO Assistant Vice President of Light Oil Operations and Marketing Chris Kiesling said: “The Club CITGO network provides great choice and convenience when Walmart+ members are on the road.” The CITGO option requires Club CITGO account activation and has its own transaction limits, so it is not interchangeable with the other stations’ redemption steps.
