The destination must accept BTC on the Bitcoin network. Robinhood says crypto transfers are final, so a wrong address or incompatible network can mean lost funds.
Before you send Bitcoin
Make sure your destination wallet is ready to receive Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network. Copy its Bitcoin receiving address from the wallet itself; do not use a sender or withdrawal address shown in Robinhood. Robinhood says its sending address may be associated with its operational accounts rather than being your own receiving address.
Robinhood lists Bitcoin address formats that begin with 1 (P2PKH), 3 (P2SH), or bc1q (Native SegWit/Bech32). Confirm that the address you copy is a BTC address and that the wallet expects a Bitcoin-network transfer. Address formats and supported networks can differ across assets, so do not assume an address for another coin or network will work.
Robinhood Crypto is custodial: Robinhood manages the keys for crypto held in your account. A non-custodial wallet puts control of the keys in your hands, along with the responsibility to secure them and keep a reliable backup. Robinhood warns that if you lose access to your keys, there is no recovery option. Robinhood Wallet is one possible destination and its support material says it can send and receive Bitcoin; whichever wallet you choose, confirm its Bitcoin receiving support and understand its backup and recovery process before transferring.
#1 Best Overall
- BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
- SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
- NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
- 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
- BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.
How to send Bitcoin from Robinhood
- Complete transfer verification if prompted. Robinhood requires identity verification to enable crypto transfers. The company says approval is typically quick but can take up to five business days.
- Open Bitcoin in Robinhood Crypto. Go to Bitcoin’s detail page and select Send.
- Enter the receiving address. Paste the BTC address copied from your destination wallet. Check its beginning against Robinhood’s listed formats—1, 3, or bc1q—and confirm the receiving wallet supports Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network.
- Enter the amount. Choose how much Bitcoin to send. If you select Send All, Robinhood says the estimated network fee is deducted from the total; otherwise, review how the fee affects the requested amount.
- Review before submitting. On the review screen, check the destination address, amount, estimated network fee, and available withdrawal amount or limit. Compare the address with the one displayed in the receiving wallet. Submit only if every detail is correct.
- Track the transfer. Keep the transaction status available in the app and wait for the Bitcoin network confirmations and Robinhood’s processing to finish.
Fees, withdrawal limits, and timing
Robinhood says it does not charge an additional transfer fee, but an on-chain Bitcoin transfer incurs a network fee. The fee varies in part with the asset and network activity, and Robinhood displays an estimate before you confirm. Review that estimate in the app rather than relying on a fixed fee amount.
Withdrawal limits depend on account factors, including verification and transaction history, and may change. Use the limit shown in your Robinhood app; there is no universal amount to assume.

Robinhood’s support page lists three Bitcoin confirmations, estimated at approximately one hour. Its broader transfer guidance says crypto processing can take up to a few hours under ordinary conditions, and security reviews can occasionally take longer. These are Robinhood estimates, not guaranteed arrival times; network conditions and review can affect how long the transfer takes.
If you can’t send Bitcoin
- Transfers are not enabled: Check whether Robinhood is asking you to complete identity verification. The company says this review can take up to five business days.
- The app shows a limit: Check the current withdrawal limit and available amount in the app. Limits vary by account and may change.
- The address is rejected or uncertain: Reopen the destination wallet and copy its Bitcoin receiving address again. Confirm that it accepts BTC on the Bitcoin network and uses an address format Robinhood supports.
- The transfer is still processing: Check the status in Robinhood and allow time for confirmations and any security review. Robinhood’s published timing figures are estimates rather than guarantees.
Why the final review matters
Robinhood states that crypto transfers are final and cannot be canceled or reversed, even by Robinhood. Before submitting, verify the receiving address, Bitcoin network, amount, and fee on the review screen. If any detail does not match what you intended, do not submit the transfer.
