Starbucks’ U.S. Rewards terms say registered cards and Rewards are personal and may not be transferred or shared. You can add multiple cards to your own account, transfer an eligible eGift balance to an existing card, or move the remaining balance from a lost or damaged registered card to a replacement.
Can you transfer a registered Starbucks Card to another account?
No general transfer process is described in Starbucks’ current Rewards terms. They state that registered Starbucks Cards, Stars, Rewards, and a Rewards account are personal to the account holder and may not be transferred or shared with another person. The terms also allow one personal Rewards account per person. See Starbucks Rewards Terms of Use.

That means moving a card into a different person’s account is not the same as adding another of your own cards, transferring an eGift balance, or replacing a lost card. Starbucks’ terms do not describe customer service as an exception to the restriction.
Choose the route that matches your card
| Your situation | What Starbucks allows | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| An already registered card you want to give to another account holder | The reviewed Rewards terms do not permit transferring or sharing a registered card with another person. | There is no supported cross-account transfer procedure in the cited terms. |
| Several cards belonging to you | Multiple cards can be added to one personal Rewards account. | Sign in to your existing account and add each card. |
| An eGift you received | The recipient may add it to their account, transfer its balance onto an existing Starbucks Card, or print it for an in-store purchase. | Open the eGift and follow the recipient options. |
| A lost, stolen, or damaged registered card | Starbucks says it can freeze the remaining balance when notified and load it onto a replacement card. | Report the card promptly through your account or by phone. |
Add your own cards to one account
- Sign in to your existing Starbucks Rewards account.
- Open Starbucks Card management on the Starbucks website or in the app.
- Choose the option to add a card, then enter the card number and security code. Starbucks says physical cards and eGifts can be registered, and multiple cards can be added to the same account.
Do not create a second personal Rewards account as a workaround: Starbucks’ terms allow one personal account per person.

Move an eGift balance onto an existing card
If you received an eGift, Starbucks provides a recipient option to add it to your account or transfer its balance onto an existing Starbucks Card. Open the eGift and use the available recipient flow. You can also print the eGift and bring it to a Starbucks store to make a purchase. Details and eGift support are available through Starbucks Gift Cards: Manage.
This is an eGift recipient option, not a general way to transfer an already registered physical or digital card between two people’s accounts.

Replace a lost, stolen, or damaged registered card
- Report the card promptly through your Starbucks account or call 1-800-STARBUC, the card-support number listed in Starbucks’ terms.
- Starbucks says it will freeze the remaining balance at the time it receives notice and load that balance onto a replacement card.
The replacement protection described in the terms depends on the card having been registered before it was lost, stolen, or damaged. The protected amount is the balance remaining when Starbucks receives the report, so the terms do not promise recovery of value already spent or establish the same protection for an unregistered card. Read the Starbucks Card Terms & Conditions for the current procedure.

Starbucks’ U.S. and Canada Card Terms, accessed October 8, 2026, list a maximum value of $500 on a card, maximum daily activity of $2,000 associated with one card, and a maximum of $10,000 loaded or purchased across cards in a day. The terms say these limits may change without notice. They also state that card value does not expire. Check the current Card Terms & Conditions before relying on a limit.
