Amazon says the driver who completed your most recent delivery is notified. The $5 payment, however, was a limited U.S. holiday promotion in 2025—not a standing tip offer.
How to send a free thank-you to your Amazon driver
Choose whichever method is easiest. You do not need to buy an Alexa device: Amazon.com and the shopping app are alternatives.

Amazon describes the feature as a way to recognize the driver who completed your most recent delivery. Its eligible U.S. delivery network includes Delivery Service Partner (DSP) Delivery Associates, Amazon Flex delivery partners, and Amazon Hub Delivery Associates. Amazon says customers can use an Amazon account on the website or app, the Alexa app, or an Alexa-enabled device. See Amazon’s Thank My Driver page for current details.
Does thanking your driver still give them $5?
No current $5 payment is established. Amazon’s $5-per-thank-you offer was a U.S. holiday promotion that ran from December 3 through December 31, 2025. Customers paid nothing; the promotion was capped at one thank-you per delivery and subject to a two-million-thank-you threshold. Amazon says the promotion ended. It has not confirmed a 2026 payment promotion on its feature page, so do not assume a thank-you now earns the driver $5.

Amazon reported more than 5.5 million thank-yous during December 2025. That was a count of thank-yous in the promotion, not evidence that the current feature pays drivers.

Amazon describes the appreciation feature as available year-round. Sending thanks notifies the driver; it is not the same as giving the driver cash, and the year-round feature does not promise a payment to them. The site, app, and Alexa options all send appreciation without requiring a device purchase.

Amazon Japan ran a separate, expired 2025 campaign offering ¥500 per thank-you at no cost to customers. Its terms and eligibility were specific to Japan, and it ended on December 31, 2025, or when it reached 500,000 thank-yous, whichever came first. Those terms do not apply to U.S. deliveries. Details are in Amazon Japan’s campaign announcement.
