Enter the ship-from and packing details, choose the shipping mode and date available for that shipment, print and apply the required labels, hand the shipment to the selected carrier, and track it in Seller Central. The exact prompts, carrier choices, and fees depend on the shipment.
Before you create an FBA shipment
Confirm the account and listing are set up for Fulfillment by Amazon and that the products are eligible to send. Amazon’s overview describes the basic flow as preparing products, creating a shipping plan, printing shipment ID labels, and sending inventory to a fulfillment center. Use the live Seller Central workflow for the current requirements for your inventory and marketplace: Amazon FBA overview.
Gather the shipment details and supplies
Have the ship-from address, product measurements, and packing information ready. Amazon’s 2026 beginner guide recommends having boxes, poly bags, a scale if product weight is unknown, and a printer available. This is a practical supply list, not an exhaustive list for every product. If buying shipping boxes for Amazon FBA, check that their dimensions suit your products and the current packaging instructions. Prepare each unit
Follow the product-specific packaging, barcode, and labeling instructions shown in Seller Central. Amazon defines FBA prep as meeting packaging, labeling, and shipping requirements. Inadequately prepared products may be refused, returned, or repackaged at the seller’s expense, according to its July 7, 2026 prep guide: FBA prep, packaging, and labeling.

Create the shipment in Seller Central
- Open Inventory → Shipments → Send to Amazon.
- Select the ship-from address and marketplace, then choose the FBA inventory to send.
- Enter the packing information. Depending on how the products are packed, Seller Central may ask you to specify individual units or provide case-pack details.
- Review the shipment prompts and confirm the estimated ship date and shipping mode offered for this shipment.
Amazon’s published guide describes this workflow and notes that steps can vary by shipment type and carrier: Send to Amazon shipment creation. Follow the current on-screen instructions if the interface or available choices differ from a general walkthrough.
Choose a shipping mode that fits the load
Small parcel delivery (SPD) is for packages tendered individually to a carrier. Pallet freight may be more appropriate for larger loads, but requires suitable pallets and freight handling. For US Partner Carrier program shipments, Amazon lists SPD, less-than-truckload (LTL), full-truckload (FTL), and intermodal options within the 48 contiguous states. Which modes, carriers, estimates, and timing appear depends on the shipment; use the live options in Seller Central rather than relying on a fixed carrier or price. Compare the options actually offered for your shipment by considering:
- Whether the shipment is packed as parcels or pallets.
- The live cost estimate and expected service information.
- For freight, whether the pickup and delivery locations have the access and equipment needed for pallet handling, and whether an appointment is required.
- Which labels and tracking steps the chosen carrier workflow requires.
Amazon’s public guidance does not establish a universal price for an individual seller’s shipment; the Seller Central estimate is specific to the shipment.

Print and apply the correct labels
Print the Amazon FBA box ID labels generated for the shipment and apply them as directed. These identify the shipment for fulfillment center receiving; they are not labels that transport a package. For partnered small-parcel shipments, Amazon provides a separate carrier label. Keep the two label types distinct and follow the prompts for the shipping mode you selected. Amazon explains the distinction on its Partner Carrier program page.
Extra preparation for pallet freight
Amazon’s LTL guidance calls for 40 × 48 inch, four-way-access wooden pallets. Stack boxes evenly, position FBA box labels so they face outward, and secure the pallet with clear stretch wrap. Follow the current shipment-specific pallet labels and delivery instructions before dispatch: Amazon LTL shipment guidance.

Hand off the shipment and track it
Tender parcels or freight to the carrier selected in the shipment workflow. For Partner Carrier shipments, use the Shipping Queue in Seller Central to track progress. Tracking transmission, delivery appointments, and other handoff requirements differ by carrier and mode, so check the instructions attached to the shipment rather than assuming parcel and freight deliveries work alike. The Partner Carrier modes described above apply to domestic service within the 48 contiguous US states; they should not be assumed to cover international inbound shipping. Amazon SEND is a separate offering, and its listed origins and destinations are described on the Seller Export & Delivery (SEND) page. For an international shipment, use the applicable SEND and marketplace workflow.
