To catch airfare changes, search your route and dates in a flight-search service, turn on its price-tracking alert, and confirm the alert was saved. When a notification arrives, check the live itinerary and total fare before booking: an alert is a prompt to verify a price, not a guarantee that it is still available.
Choose what you want to track
If your dates are fixed, search those exact dates and track a specific flight or itinerary when the service allows it. If your dates are flexible, track the route where available and compare date options separately. Route tracking can cover a broader set of flights; tracking a selected flight is more focused on that itinerary.
Tracking options and notification behavior vary by service. Google Flights supports tracking specific flights, routes, and dates. KAYAK and Skyscanner provide alerts from flight-search results, with account requirements and controls that differ.
Set up an alert in Google Flights
- Search for your route and travel dates in Google Flights.
- Use the price-tracking control for the flight, route, or dates you want to monitor.
- Check your Google account or email for updates and confirm that tracking is active.
Google says it may email you when a tracked flight or route changes significantly. It may also send regular updates with the best available prices when there has not been a large enough change. See Google Flights’ price-tracking help for its current instructions.

Set up an alert in KAYAK
- Sign in to KAYAK and search for your flights.
- On the flight-results page, turn on Track prices at the upper left.
- Check your account or KAYAK’s alerts page to confirm the alert is active and manage it later.
KAYAK describes daily updates and real-time updates for significant changes. Its help page says those changes are typically a 10% rise or drop since the previous update; this is KAYAK’s stated threshold, not a rule shared by all airfare-alert services. Alerts expire after the travel date and may also expire if you do not open or engage with alert emails. Details are in KAYAK’s Price Alerts help.
Set up an alert in Skyscanner
You must be logged in to create a Skyscanner email alert. The interface varies by device:

- Desktop: Search for your route and date, then select Track prices or Get Price Alerts.
- Mobile web or app: Search for the flight and save it or use the alert control shown with the results.
Manage or remove alerts from your account profile or through the alert email. Skyscanner’s setup instructions were updated March 20, 2026; check its current alert setup and cancellation help if the labels differ.
What to check when an alert arrives
- Open the alert and search for the same route, dates, and itinerary again.
- Confirm the current fare on the airline’s or booking provider’s page. The emailed price may have changed or may no longer be available.
- Check that the passenger count, cabin, baggage, change and cancellation conditions, and total price match what you need.
- Book only after confirming the fare and conditions in the live results.
Skyscanner describes its alert email as a guide based on a single-adult price snapshot from the day it is sent; it warns that the emailed fare may no longer be available when you check. See Skyscanner’s explanation of prices and availability.

Choose based on whether you need to watch one itinerary or a route, which date options you want to compare, and how you prefer to manage notifications. No service’s alert should replace checking the live fare before purchase.
