Set a Bitcoin price alert in an exchange or charting app, choose the price and direction that matter to you, and let the service send a notification. The alert tells you a condition has been met; it does not buy or sell Bitcoin for you. Coinbase, Binance and TradingView all offer ways to do this, with different quote sources, trigger settings and delivery options.
Choose an alert based on the price source and notification you want
A Bitcoin alert is tied to a service’s price feed or, on Binance, a specific BTC trading pair. Prices can differ between services and pairs, so use the source you intend to monitor rather than treating any one quote as universally authoritative.

For the least friction, use an exchange where you already have an account. Choose TradingView if you prefer setting alerts from a chart or want its delivery choices. Review the current help page for the service you choose because interface labels and limits may change.
Set a Bitcoin alert in Coinbase
- In the Coinbase mobile app, search for Bitcoin and add it to your watchlist.
- Open Bitcoin and tap the bell-with-plus icon. Choose Add Alert.
- Select whether the alert should trigger when the price goes above or below your chosen level, enter the target, and save.
- To select delivery channels, go to Account & Settings > Notification Settings and enable the push, in-app or email options you want for custom alerts.
Coinbase says only watchlisted assets send price alerts. Its Help page also describes alerts as informational: they “do not constitute investment advice or advice to buy or sell bitcoin,” and they do not submit an order. See Coinbase’s price-alert guidance for current details.

Set a Bitcoin alert in Binance
- Switch the Binance app to Binance Pro, where Binance says price alerts are available.
- Open Markets, search for the BTC trading pair you want to monitor, and select it. For example, choose the specific BTC pair relevant to your intended quote; an alert for one pair does not mean every Bitcoin market is being monitored.
- Tap Alert, choose an alert type and threshold, select a frequency, and create the alert.
- Allow Binance notifications in your phone’s system settings so app alerts can reach you.
Binance Support’s price-alert instructions say an account can have up to 10 alerts per trading pair and 50 total, and that each alert remains valid for 90 days. The page was updated on January 6, 2026; confirm the current limits and settings in the app before relying on an alert. Binance describes the feature as notifying users when a price or condition is met, not as an order function.
Set a Bitcoin price alert in TradingView
- Open the Bitcoin symbol and chart you want to follow, then create an alert.
- Set the primary condition to Price, then select the threshold and operator, such as crossing above or below a level.
- Choose whether it should trigger once or repeatedly, and set an expiration date if that option is available for the alert.
- Select the delivery method: app notification, desktop popup, email, or a combination offered in your account.
- For phone delivery, install the TradingView mobile app and allow push notifications in your device settings.
TradingView’s guides explain how to set up alerts, how price alerts work and how to receive phone notifications. The number of active alerts available depends on your plan, so check your account’s current allowance rather than assuming a particular limit.

Make alerts useful without turning them into noise
Choose a small number of price levels that correspond to decisions you have already made—for example, a level at which you plan to review your position. This is a workflow suggestion, not a prediction method or a way to improve returns. Set the direction correctly, confirm the selected market or symbol, and pick a notification channel you will notice.

- Check the source: Confirm whether you are monitoring Coinbase’s Bitcoin quote, a particular Binance pair, or a TradingView symbol.
- Check the trigger: Above/below and percentage-change alerts are different conditions; select the one that matches your intent.
- Check delivery: App alerts require the relevant phone permissions. Email or desktop popup may suit you better if you do not want more phone notifications.
- Check expiry and capacity: Review whether alerts repeat, when they expire and whether your service or plan limits the number you can keep active.
- Keep execution separate: A notification is a prompt to review the market. It does not guarantee a fill or transact on your behalf.
