To track an Amazon item before a sale, save the exact product, subscribe to relevant alerts on Amazon’s event page, or ask Alexa for Shopping to alert you when its price reaches a target. Before buying, check the product’s Price history so you can compare the sale price with that listing’s past prices. Amazon’s October event is Prime Big Deal Days: Amazon says it starts October 6, 2026. Its separate Prime Day 2026 event ran June 23–26.
How to set alerts for Prime Day and other Amazon events
Amazon’s event-page alerts are useful when you want to hear about deals related to products you recently searched for or viewed, rather than track only one exact item. Amazon says Prime members can open the Prime Day event page in the Amazon Shopping app and subscribe to alerts; push notifications arrive when subscribed deals become available. The app’s labels and alert availability can change.
- Open the relevant event page in the Amazon Shopping app.
- Look for the option to subscribe to deal alerts related to your recent searches and recently viewed items.
- Enable push notifications for the Amazon Shopping app on your device if you want to receive alerts there.
Amazon announced that Prime Big Deal Days 2026 starts October 6. This is the October fall event, not the June Prime Day event, which Amazon says ran June 23–26, 2026. See Amazon’s event announcement for its current dates and details.
How to track an exact product’s price
For a specific product, use Alexa for Shopping on its product detail page to set a target-price alert. Amazon’s example is asking for an alert when an item drops to $50; choose a threshold that fits your own budget rather than treating that example as a recommended price.

- Open the product detail page for the exact listing you want to monitor.
- Ask Alexa for Shopping to create a price alert at your chosen threshold. Amazon describes a request such as, “Alert me when this drops to $50.”
- Check the alert settings and choose notification only if you want to approve any purchase yourself.
Amazon renamed Rufus to Alexa for Shopping on May 13, 2026, so older instructions may use the former name. Amazon also describes asking for deals by need—for example, noise-canceling headphones—with daily updates when matching offers appear. The exact prompts and availability may vary. Keep an alert separate from Auto-Buy
An alert tells you about a price; Auto-Buy can do more. Amazon documents an option for Alexa for Shopping to complete a purchase using your default payment method when the target price is reached. If you want to review the product, seller, final price, and checkout details before ordering, leave Auto-Buy off.

Can Amazon alert you when a saved item goes on sale?
Amazon says Alexa may notify you up to 24 hours before an eligible deal for an item saved to a Wish List, Cart, or Save for Later. The stated lead time is not a promise that every deal will be announced that early—or that every saved item will qualify. Amazon describes notifications on an Echo device, such as a yellow ring light, or as a pop-up.
To improve the usefulness of your shortlist, save the exact product and check its model, size, color, and configuration. A notification about a similar but different version may not be useful. An Echo device is optional: Amazon’s app and product-page tools are the main alert routes, and a speaker is not required.

How to check whether a Prime Day price is good
On an eligible product detail page, select the “Price history” link beside the price to open the graph. You can also ask Alexa for Shopping about the item’s price history. Compare the sale price with the item’s own recorded prices: a discount label alone does not tell you whether the current price is unusually low for that product.

- Confirm the history is for the exact listing and configuration you intend to buy.
- Use the graph as historical context, not a prediction that the price will fall or that its lowest recorded price will return.
- Consider whether the item meets your needs at the current total price; a past low is not automatically the right price for your budget.
Amazon says price history is available to customers in the U.S., UK, Canada, and India. Its 2026 article said 365-day price insights were rolling out in the U.S., UK, and India, with full availability expected in the coming weeks. Do not assume the same history window is available in every country. Amazon also reported that more than 50 million customers had used the feature since its 2024 launch and that customers checked price history three times per month on average; those are Amazon-reported figures, not independent measurements. For any tracker, make sure the product and marketplace match the listing you plan to buy. The cited service descriptions do not establish that one tracker is more accurate than another or that any one tool captures every offer. Pick based on whether you need event-wide discovery, a threshold alert, a price chart, or an option to automate buying.
