Send the payer the email address or U.S. mobile number enrolled with your Zelle account. If your bank or credit union supports Zelle QR codes, you can share your code instead. Ask the payer to confirm the recipient name shown in their payment flow before sending.
What Zelle information should you share?
Share the email address or U.S. mobile number enrolled with Zelle—not just any email address or phone number you use. The payer can enter that detail in their bank or credit union’s app or online banking to find you as a recipient.
Both people need eligible U.S. checking or savings accounts and must meet the enrollment requirements of their financial institutions. Those requirements, along with app features and transfer limits, can vary by institution.
How to share your Zelle QR code
A QR code is an optional alternative when your financial institution supports it. In its app, open the Zelle area and look for “My Code.” If available, use the share control to text or email your code, or the print control to make a paper copy. Not every bank or credit union offers this feature.

If you do not see a QR-code option, send the enrolled email address or U.S. mobile number instead.
What the payer should check before sending
- Confirm that the email address or phone number is typed correctly. If you use a Zelle tag in a supported context, confirm its spelling too.
- Check that the recipient name displayed in the payment flow matches the intended recipient. If anything is unclear, verify the contact detail directly with that person before authorizing the payment.
- Use Zelle only with people you know and trust. An authorized payment to an enrolled recipient generally cannot be canceled, and Zelle does not provide purchase protection.
If the recipient has not enrolled yet
Zelle says an un-enrolled recipient receives an email or text with enrollment steps. If they do not enroll within 14 days, the payment expires and the funds return to the sender’s account.

Where to get help
If you use Zelle through your bank or credit union’s app and have a question about enrollment, an account, or a payment, contact that financial institution. It can confirm which contact details and features are available for your account.
