Before you start
- Sign in to the Amazon account you will use for the order.
- Know the address or ZIP code where you want to collect the package.
- Check the Locker’s distance, address, and operating hours.
- Plan to collect the package within three calendar days after Amazon says it is ready.
Amazon Locker is a public pickup location. It is different from an apartment-building package locker, which is generally limited to residents and deliveries routed to that building.
1. Find an Amazon Locker near you
Use Amazon’s pickup-location selector to search by address or ZIP code. You can also add a Locker through the Your Addresses section of your Amazon account. Review the location’s hours and address before selecting it.

Amazon may show a Locker in search results but not make it selectable later if capacity changes. A Locker appearing on a map is not a guarantee that it will be available for your particular shipment.

2. Select the Locker at checkout
- Add the items to your Amazon cart.
- Proceed to checkout.
- At the delivery-address stage, choose the saved Amazon Locker or select the option to find a nearby pickup location.
- Choose the Locker you want to use.
- Before placing the order, confirm that the Locker—not your home address—is listed as the delivery destination.
Amazon’s labels can vary by website version, app, account, and region, but the essential action is the same: select the Locker through Amazon’s delivery-location system.
3. Confirm that the order is eligible
Not every Amazon item can be delivered to a Locker. Amazon’s U.S. guidance gives these example requirements:
- Weight under 10 pounds.
- Dimensions under 16 × 12 × 14 inches.
- Sold or fulfilled by Amazon.
These are example limits from Amazon’s guidance, not a universal guarantee for every Locker or order. Eligibility can also depend on the seller, shipping method, package dimensions, hazardous-material rules, special handling, delivery requirements, Locker capacity, and the destination.
The checkout screen is the final authority. If the Locker does not appear for the item or order, Amazon is not currently offering Locker delivery for that shipment. Try removing an ineligible item, ordering items separately, selecting another Locker, or using a permitted home, work, or other delivery address.

Third-party Marketplace items are not automatically excluded, but eligibility varies by item and order. Some may qualify; others may not.
4. Wait for the pickup notification
Place the order normally after confirming the Locker destination. Wait for Amazon’s delivery confirmation or “ready for pickup” notification rather than going to the Locker based only on the estimated delivery date.
The notification may contain a six-digit pickup code, a barcode or QR-style scan option, or an option to open the compartment through the Amazon Shopping app. Check each notification if Amazon splits the order into multiple shipments; different packages can have separate instructions and deadlines.
5. Pick up the package
- Open the delivery-confirmation email or Amazon app.
- At the Locker, use the displayed code, barcode, or app-based access method.
- Follow the Locker screen’s instructions.
- Remove the package from the opened compartment and close the door.
A smartphone is useful but is not universally required. Amazon says a six-digit code can be written down and used without a phone when that access method is provided. Some Lockers may instead require a barcode or the Amazon Shopping app.
Another person can generally collect the package if you forward the delivery-confirmation email and pickup instructions. Send only what is needed—such as the exact code or barcode—and avoid forwarding account, payment, or unrelated personal information.

How long does Amazon hold a Locker package?
Amazon’s official U.S. guidance says an Amazon Locker package is held for three calendar days, not three business days. Use the actual deadline in the pickup notification if it differs from the general rule.

If you do not collect the package within that period, Amazon automatically returns it and issues a refund. Do not assume that Amazon will extend the deadline unless the order’s instructions explicitly offer that option.
Troubleshooting Amazon Locker delivery
The Locker option does not appear
- Confirm the account’s delivery ZIP code and location.
- Try adding the Locker through Your Addresses before returning to checkout.
- Check the eligibility of every item in the cart.
- Remove oversized, restricted, or incompatible items and test the remaining item.
- Order eligible items separately if a combined shipment is the problem.
- Search for another nearby Locker.
- Look for a staffed pickup location or another pickup option.
- Use a secure home, work, or other permitted address if no pickup option is available.
Do not manually enter the Locker’s address to force the delivery.
The Locker is full
Amazon says customers can select only Lockers with available capacity. Choose another location if the preferred Locker is full. Capacity can change between the initial search, checkout, and shipment.
The item is too large, heavy, or restricted
Try ordering the item separately, choosing a different pickup location, or using a home or work address. Items requiring special handling, a signature, temperature control, or other delivery conditions may not qualify.
The code or barcode does not work
First confirm that the notification belongs to the correct order and Locker and that the package is marked ready for pickup. If a barcode will not scan, increase your phone’s screen brightness and clean the display. Try entering the six-digit code manually if Amazon provided one. Also check for a newer notification with updated instructions.
If access still fails, use the Locker’s on-screen help or customer-service contact, then contact Amazon through the order’s support flow. Amazon says customer service is available 24/7, and the direct contact information is printed on each Locker.

The order says delivered, but the Locker will not open
Verify the delivery notification, Locker location, and ready-for-pickup status. Do not force a compartment or leave the package unattended. Follow the Locker’s help instructions or contact Amazon customer service for the order.

Check the host location’s operating hours and use the instructions displayed on the Locker. If it remains inaccessible, contact Amazon through the order or Locker support options and follow any replacement-pickup or reshipment instructions Amazon provides.
The order was sent to the wrong address
This is different from a driver routing a package to a nearby Locker. Check the order-management controls to see whether the destination can still be changed before shipment. Options vary by order status, seller, carrier, and delivery method. Once the package has shipped, a change may no longer be available; use Amazon order support rather than trying to redirect it independently.
You missed the pickup deadline
Amazon’s U.S. Locker guidance says the package is automatically returned and refunded after three calendar days. Check the order status for the refund, then place a new order if you still need the item and Locker delivery is available.

Amazon’s broader U.S. pickup network includes Amazon and partner locations, but do not assume that every partner location uses Amazon Locker’s three-day holding period or the same access method. Amazon describes Locker delivery in the U.S. as having no additional cost; other services may have their own rules.
Accessibility features
Amazon says its Lockers include accessibility features such as talking functions, large or high-contrast text, and the ability to choose lower compartments. Availability and operation can vary by location.
