You can sell shoes online through a general marketplace, a fashion resale app, a sneaker specialist, or a consignment service. The right choice depends on the shoes, their condition, the platform’s rules and fees, and how much work you want to do. There is no guaranteed profit or universally best site: compare likely proceeds and selling requirements before you list.
Start by deciding what kind of seller you are
Selling a pair you already own is different from running a resale business. For a one-time sale, focus on finding a venue that accepts your shoes and makes listing and shipping manageable. For ongoing sales, also account for how you will obtain inventory and the time and money needed to manage it.
Selling shoes you own
Check the brand, model, size, condition, and any accessories before choosing a platform. Be candid about wear, repairs, restoration, missing insoles or laces, and whether the original box is included. A clear, accurate listing helps avoid disputes and is especially important where a platform inspects eligible sneakers.
Building a continuing business
Possible sourcing approaches include manufacturing, buying wholesale, and dropshipping. They involve different levels of investment, inventory responsibility, and control; none guarantees sales or profit. Before committing, work out how you will source legitimate products, handle returns and customer questions, and cover costs if inventory does not sell.
#1 Best Overall
- The mesh upper offers a comfortable, breathable feel.
- The foam midsole delivers intuitive cushioning through comfort-focused rocker geometry.
- The outsole has an intuitive Nike design and flex grooves in the forefoot that create a comfortable and cushioned effect as you run.
- Touch points at the heel and tongue create a natural feel as you take the shoes on and off.
- Mesh on upper is more breathable than the Revolution 7, helping keep you cool.
Compare the selling channels
The platforms below are options to evaluate, not a ranking. A venue’s audience may suit one pair better than another, but check that it accepts the brand and condition and that you can meet its shipping, return, and account requirements.
| Channel | Examples | Potential fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| General marketplaces | Amazon, eBay, Mercari | Broad range of footwear and buyers | Category rules, fee schedule, shipping, returns, and any eligibility for authentication |
| Fashion resale platforms | Etsy, Poshmark, Depop, Grailed, Vestiaire Collective | Fashion-oriented listings and resale | Whether your item fits the platform’s rules, seller fees, payment costs, and shipping process |
| Sneaker-focused services | StockX, GOAT, Stadium Goods, Flight Club, Kixify | Sneakers where specialist selling or authentication processes may matter | Accepted models and condition, seller rating requirements, fees, authentication, deadlines, and payout terms |
| Consignment or managed resale | The RealReal, ThredUP, Heroine | Sellers willing to use a service’s intake or consignment process | What footwear is accepted, how the service handles pricing and returns, and the seller’s payout after fees |
| Your own online store | A storefront built with a website platform | A seller who wants more control over branding and customer relationships | You must attract visitors yourself; compare setup, payment, fulfillment, and ongoing operating costs |
The 16 named marketplaces are examples, not a definitive “best sites” ranking or a claim that one venue has the largest buyer base. A seller-owned storefront is a different option from listing on a marketplace: it can offer more control, but does not bring the same built-in marketplace audience.
Check the rules and costs before choosing
Review the current seller terms for your country and account. Compare the full cost of a sale, not just a headline commission: payment processing, shipping you pay, optional promotion, cash-out charges, and any return or authentication requirements can change what you keep.

- eBay: Its Seller Center describes category-dependent final value fees and a per-order fee. The page’s separate rate for eligible sneakers over $150 is 8% of the total sale amount with no per-order fee; it says the fee base includes item price, shipping, sales tax, and other applicable fees. This is a specific category and eligibility term, not a rate for every shoe or seller. Check the current eBay fee schedule before listing.
- eBay sneaker authentication: Selected models in named brands and footwear categories can qualify for new or pre-owned sneakers starting at $75, subject to eligibility and destination restrictions. Covered listings show an eligibility mark, and eligible purchases go to an authentication center. It does not apply to every shoe. See eBay’s authentication details.
- StockX: On its Verified Marketplace, the stated seller charges are 3% payment processing plus a transaction fee based on seller level, calculated on the final sale price. Its Listings Marketplace and Live product have different fee structures and were described as limited to selected sellers. Check StockX’s fee terms for the selling route you plan to use.
- GOAT: Commission depends on seller rating and geography; its policy also lists a cash-out fee and possible other charges. Check GOAT’s current fee policy rather than assuming one flat commission.
- Depop: Its fee page states no Depop selling fee for sellers based in the UK, US, and Australia, but payment-processing fees apply there. For sellers outside those countries in the specified currencies, it lists a 10% selling fee; optional boosted-listing charges may also apply. The page says US and UK boosting terms apply to new listings from March 23, 2026. See Depop’s fee information and confirm the terms for your location.
- Poshmark US: A current US support search result says sellers keep 80% on sales of $15 or more and Poshmark takes 20% commission; it also notes a Texas Seller Fee Tax effective October 1, 2025. Verify the terms directly with Poshmark Support before relying on them.
These examples are not a full fee comparison of every marketplace. Policies can vary by country, category, seller level, account type, and date. Confirm charges, payout timing, shipping responsibility, return handling, and eligibility on the platform’s own current pages.
Make a listing buyers can assess
Use your own clear photos and describe the shoes as they are, not as you hope they will appear to a buyer. Show the full pair and the details that affect condition or authenticity. For sneakers, include identifying model details where you can verify them.
Include the details that matter
- Brand, model, size, and any relevant size-system information.
- Condition, including sole wear, creasing, scuffs, stains, odor, damage, or repairs.
- Whether the shoes have been restored or altered, and whether the original box, extra laces, or other accessories are included.
- Useful material and design details, without claims you cannot verify.
- Photos of the pair from multiple angles, plus close-ups of flaws, labels, soles, and included accessories.
Do not conceal wear or imply that a box or accessory is included if it is not. eBay’s authentication process for eligible sneakers checks whether the item and its condition match the listing, illustrating why precise descriptions matter.

Set a price that accounts for your costs
There is no single right price for all shoes. Look at comparable listings for the same model, size, and condition, and distinguish asking prices from completed sales where the platform makes that information available. Then estimate what you would actually keep.
- Choose a realistic sale amount using comparable shoes and the condition of your pair.
- Subtract the platform’s applicable selling and payment fees, using the current fee terms for your country and selling route.
- Subtract shipping you pay, packing materials, and any promotion or other selling expenses.
- If you bought the shoes to resell, subtract your inventory cost and other business expenses to estimate profit. For shoes you already own, this calculation instead helps you judge whether the cash proceeds are worth the effort.
For example, your expected proceeds are the sale amount minus platform charges, seller-paid shipping, and packing costs; a resale business must also deduct inventory and other expenses. Do not treat a listing price as profit, and do not assume a particular model will sell quickly or at a specific margin.

Follow the sale-specific label, routing instructions, and deadline from the platform you used. Requirements differ by venue. GOAT’s seller instructions say: “Package each shoebox separately in a sufficiently sized cardboard box with bubble wrap or packing paper to ensure that the item is secure.” For that process, use an outer corrugated shipping box sized to the actual shoebox and enough protective fill to keep it secure; it is not a universal rule for every platform.

- Athletic mesh upper with durable leather overlays for added dimension & midfoot support

- Confirm the order’s shipping deadline and the exact label or carrier instructions.
- Protect the shoes and their box, if included, using the packaging required by the venue.
- Use the label and routing specified for that sale; do not substitute a different destination or process.
- Keep the shipment receipt and tracking information until the transaction is complete.
GOAT’s instructions call for a separate sufficiently sized outer cardboard box for each shoebox in the described seller flow. For another marketplace, follow that platform’s current directions instead. See GOAT’s shipping instructions.
What the available evidence does not establish
No verified, attributable source here establishes which platform has the largest shoe buyer base, where “most” shoes are sold, which shoe styles sell the most, or who is the most successful shoe reseller. Nor does it establish a typical selling speed, profit, or margin. Treat those as questions to assess for your own shoe and market rather than promises a platform or guide can make.
