Research Nvidia by starting with its latest SEC filings, tracing how revenue, margins and cash generation are changing, testing the risks disclosed by the company, and only then comparing the business with a current share price and a clearly dated valuation measure. Nvidia’s strong reported growth is relevant evidence about its business; it does not, by itself, show that NVDA shares are attractively priced.
Start with Nvidia’s official investor materials
Nvidia common stock trades on Nasdaq under the ticker NVDA. Its Investor Relations site links to financial reports, SEC filings, quarterly results, stock quote and chart tools, historical prices, an investment calculator, company fundamentals and analyst coverage. Use filings and earnings releases to understand the business; use quote tools to establish the share price on the date you perform your analysis.
Read the latest Form 10-Q alongside the latest Form 10-K. The quarterly filing gives a recent operating and financial update; the annual report provides a broader description of the business and its risks. Nvidia’s annual reports and proxy statements page provides its annual-report library, and the company’s investor FAQ explains where to find reports and SEC filings.
As of the latest retrieved filing, Nvidia’s Form 10-Q for fiscal Q2 2027 covered the quarter ended July 26, 2026, and was reported August 26, 2026. Check for a newer release or filing before relying on these figures.

What Nvidia’s latest reported results show
In fiscal Q2 2027, Nvidia reported $96.2 billion in revenue, up 106% year over year, and $89.0 billion in Data Center revenue, up 117%. Gross margin was 75.0% for the quarter. Nvidia attributed the year-over-year gross-margin increase to improved product mix from Blackwell Ultra. These are historical results for that quarter, not forecasts.
The company said growth was driven by Data Center products for accelerated computing and AI solutions, and that Blackwell continued to account for the majority of system shipments. The figures show how important Data Center was to the quarter’s reported performance. To judge whether growth is durable, compare results across later periods, examine the other reported business areas, and look for evidence about the range of customers and end markets supporting demand.

Keep fiscal periods aligned. Nvidia states that fiscal 2027 is a 53-week year, while fiscal 2026 was a 52-week year; both fiscal years end on the last Sunday in January. Review the periods and any recast segment presentation in the filing before treating year-over-year comparisons as directly comparable.
Assess more than revenue growth
Margins and operating costs
Follow gross margin alongside revenue, and examine operating expenses to see how much the company is spending to support growth. A single quarter’s margin can reflect product mix and other period-specific factors, so compare the trend over multiple periods rather than assuming the latest result will persist.

Cash flow, inventory and commitments
Review cash flows, inventory provisions, working-capital movements and purchase obligations in the financial statements and notes. Nvidia’s filing discusses material inventory provisions as well as commitments to secure supply and capacity. These measures can help reveal whether reported growth is accompanied by cash generation and whether the company is taking on obligations ahead of realized demand.
Customer demand and deployment capacity
Nvidia says demand estimates can be inaccurate and that product deployment can depend on data-center land, power, construction capacity and customer financing. Consider whether customers can obtain the infrastructure and funding needed to install and use the systems they order. Delays can affect when demand becomes shipments and revenue, even where customer interest exists.

Test the risks disclosed in the filings
Read the risk factors in the latest 10-Q and 10-K rather than relying on a short summary. Nvidia’s Q2 fiscal 2027 filing discusses export controls and restrictions affecting China, regulatory inquiries, competition, customer and partner performance, infrastructure constraints, and other risks. For each, ask how it could affect revenue, margins, costs or the timing of results. A disclosed risk is a possibility, not a prediction that the adverse outcome will occur.
The filing also describes supply, capacity, cloud-services and data-center infrastructure commitments that may extend for years and may be difficult to reduce if demand or plans change. Compare those commitments with the pace of customer deployments and consider what could happen if customers delay projects or reduce investment.

Once you understand the operating results and risks, obtain a current NVDA quote and choose a valuation measure with a clearly stated date and denominator—for example, a specified earnings or cash-flow period. Make the period and assumptions explicit, and compare more than one scenario. A valuation multiple based on historical results answers a different question from one based on forecasts, so do not mix the two without saying so.
The official investor pages provide quote and historical-price tools, but the latest retrieved materials do not establish a current share price, market capitalization, forward earnings multiple or consensus estimates. Get those figures from current, dated sources before calculating or publishing a valuation; do not infer them from the fiscal Q2 2027 results alone.
Use consistent comparisons
When comparing Nvidia across time or with other semiconductor companies, check that the business mix, fiscal periods and accounting presentations are sufficiently comparable. Use these measures as a common framework:
- Revenue growth and the contribution of each reported business area.
- Gross and operating margins.
- Operating cash generation, investment needs and commitments.
- Customer and end-market concentration.
- Exposure to supply-chain constraints, regulation, export controls and competition.
- Valuation relative to an explicitly identified forecast or historical financial measure.
Differences in business models or reporting periods can make headline ratios misleading. Explain those differences before drawing a like-for-like conclusion.
