Start with Meesho’s official filings, then test whether user and order growth is translating into delivered-order value, improving transaction economics and cash generation. Meesho reports some useful operating measures, but they are not substitutes for audited revenue, profit and cash-flow statements. This is a research framework, not a buy or sell recommendation.

Where should you find Meesho’s filings?

Use the company’s Investor Relations site as the starting point. Its Financial Results page lists results and annual-report materials, including FY 2025–26 and Q1 FY27 materials. The IPO Disclosures page lists offer documents and historical financial statements, including the Red Herring Prospectus (RHP).

  1. Find the latest reporting period. Open the annual report and the most recent quarterly results. Record the period covered and whether each figure is consolidated or standalone.
  2. Use the RHP for history and definitions. Compare its historical financial statements and KPI explanations with later annual and quarterly reports. The RHP notes that internal reporting was realigned for FY25, so check segment definitions before treating the periods as directly comparable.
  3. Keep a source trail. For every figure, note the document, page or table, period, units, accounting basis and company definition. Do not combine a quarterly figure with a full-year figure or silently mix consolidated and standalone data.

The official pages identify available documents; the figures below are a limited historical and operating snapshot, not a substitute for checking the latest statements and their notes.

What does Meesho do, and how does it earn revenue?

Meesho describes itself as a multi-sided technology platform connecting consumers, sellers, logistics partners and content creators. Its RHP identifies Marketplace and New Initiatives as reportable segments. Marketplace includes the platform connecting buyers and sellers, advertising, and logistics and fulfilment. New Initiatives include a low-cost local logistics network for daily essentials and digital financial services. Check the latest annual report for current segment labels and definitions, particularly because of the FY25 reporting realignment.

Meesho says Marketplace revenue includes services to sellers such as fulfilment, advertising and seller insights. Its RHP also says it began charging logistics partners a platform facilitation fee for orders fulfilled through Valmo on March 15, 2025. That change matters when assessing revenue trends: growth may reflect a change in what the company charges, as well as changes in order volumes or other services.

How should you read Meesho’s scale and order-value metrics?

Meesho’s Investor Relations homepage reports 274 million+ annual transacting users, 1.04 million+ annual transacting sellers and 2.83 billion+ placed orders for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. These are company-reported operating figures. They describe scale, not profitability, and the labels and measurement periods should be checked in the underlying materials before comparison with other periods.

For historical context, the RHP reports Marketplace GMV and NMV as follows. The percentage changes are arithmetic calculations from the prospectus figures, not separate company-reported growth rates.

Fiscal year ended March 31 Marketplace GMV Marketplace NMV
FY24 ₹400.38 billion ₹232.41 billion
FY25 ₹503.12 billion (about 25.7% higher than FY24) ₹299.88 billion (about 29.0% higher than FY24)

GMV and NMV are not interchangeable. In the CEO’s shareholder letter, NMV is defined as the cumulative checkout value, inclusive of taxes, of successfully delivered Marketplace orders. A gap between the two can matter because placed-order value is not the same as delivered-order value. Use the company’s definition for each year and check whether it changed before drawing conclusions about growth or cancellations and returns.

Is Meesho profitable?

Answer this from statutory financial statements, not from an operating KPI or a segment measure. For FY25, the RHP reports total segment revenue of ₹93,899.03 million and segment results of negative ₹2,195.91 million. It separately reports restated loss before tax of negative ₹14,548.63 million and notes a large exceptional item. Segment results are not statutory net profit, and neither figure is free cash flow. Read the income statement and notes to understand the reconciliation and the exceptional item rather than treating one measure as the company’s overall profit result.

For each year and interim period, check revenue from operations, profit or loss before and after tax, and the items that help explain the difference between operating performance and the bottom line:

  • Segment results and the reconciliation to statutory profit or loss.
  • Finance costs, depreciation and amortisation, and employee share-based payment expense.
  • Exceptional items and other income, including whether they are recurring or one-off.
  • Any restatement, accounting-policy change or change in reporting basis disclosed in the statements.

Do not infer current profitability from the FY25 prospectus figures. For the latest position, use the most recent annual and quarterly statements on the company’s Financial Results page.

How can you test whether the marketplace’s economics are improving?

Meesho’s CEO defines Contribution Margin as Marketplace revenue earned from sellers, net of costs directly attributable to placed orders. The shareholder letter calls it the company’s unit-economics profitability metric. It is a management-defined, non-statutory measure, so check its calculation and any reconciliation in the relevant period rather than assuming the definition is universal or unchanged.

Compare contribution margin with NMV, placed orders and fulfilment cost per order. The useful question is whether delivered value and activity are growing alongside better transaction economics, or whether growth depends on persistent subsidies and rising variable costs. Examine marketing and other variable costs as well as fulfilment: a stronger contribution measure on its own does not establish that the whole business is profitable.

Management’s framework is a starting point, not a conclusion. In his shareholder letter, CEO Vidit Aatrey writes: “Contribution Margin is our unit economics profitability metric.” Test that characterization against the stated formula, period-by-period figures and audited statements.

Does accounting performance convert into cash?

Compare operating cash flow, working-capital movements, capital expenditure and free cash flow over a trailing period. A single quarter can be distorted by the timing of collections, payments or investment, so examine the accompanying notes and several periods where available. Reconcile any management-defined free-cash-flow measure to the audited cash-flow statement and check exactly which capital expenditure and working-capital items it includes.

The CEO’s letter says free cash flow is a key measure because EBITDA excludes capital expenditure and working-capital requirements. It also states: “We will not pretend that accounting profits are the same as cash generation.” Use that distinction to frame the analysis, then test management’s measure against reported cash flows rather than relying on EBITDA or a letter alone.

What should you compare across years and quarters?

Build a period-by-period worksheet for at least FY23, FY24, FY25 and the latest reported interim periods. Preserve each company-defined metric’s definition and mark any break in comparability.

Area What to record Question to ask
Activity Users, sellers, orders and repeat activity Is engagement broadening, and are the measurement windows consistent?
Order value GMV and NMV Is delivered-order value keeping pace with placed-order value?
Revenue and segments Revenue from operations by segment and segment results Which services generate revenue, and have segment definitions changed?
Transaction economics Contribution margin, fulfilment cost per order, marketing and other variable costs Are per-order economics improving alongside activity?
Statutory result Profit or loss, exceptional items, other income, finance costs and share-based compensation What explains the difference between segment performance and statutory results?
Cash generation Operating cash flow, working capital, capital expenditure and free cash flow Does the business generate cash after investment, and how does management define free cash flow?
Capital and governance Share count and dilution, shareholding changes, related-party disclosures and risk factors What could affect per-share value, oversight or exposure to concentrated risks?

What else belongs in an investment review?

Read the RHP and current filings for use of proceeds, risk factors, related-party transactions, share-based compensation, dilution and shareholding changes. Compare disclosures across documents for changes rather than assuming historical descriptions remain current. For these items, use the filings themselves: the figures and current details need to be established from the latest documents, not inferred from a historical snapshot.

Keep company statements, reported accounting measures, operating KPIs and your own conclusions separate in your notes. A management definition can help explain how the business is run, but it does not replace accounting results. An industry estimate, if used, should be labelled as such and kept distinct from issuer-reported figures.
