To master Amazon, compare the complete offer—not just the headline price. Check the delivered cost, seller, fulfillment, item condition, delivery estimate and return terms before you buy. Use lists to keep alternatives organized, and treat reviews as useful clues rather than proof.
Set your criteria before searching
Decide which exact item you need and what condition you will accept. For products where accessories or components matter, note what must be included. This makes it easier to compare equivalent offers rather than choosing between different versions or conditions by mistake.

Compare the whole offer on the product page
When several offers appear, compare these details side by side:
- Total delivered price: Include shipping and any other charges shown before checkout, not just the displayed item price.
- Seller and fulfillment: Check who sells the item and who ships it. A Marketplace offer may come from a third-party seller rather than Amazon.
- Condition and contents: Confirm whether the item is new or another condition, and check which components are included.
- Delivery timing: Compare the estimated arrival date for the offer you selected.
- Return eligibility: Check the product page and the order record for the applicable return information and deadline.
Understand who handles a return
Amazon’s US returns policy says most items may be returned within 30 days of delivery if they are original or unused, but exceptions apply by category. Check the item page for eligibility and your order record for the return-by date. If a third-party seller fulfills and ships its own inventory, Amazon says the return goes to that seller, so review the seller’s return information before ordering: Amazon’s US return policy.

Keep candidates organized with lists
Save promising products to a list so you can compare them without relying on memory or leaving several tabs open. Amazon’s help page describes saving an item with the Heart icon: Amazon’s instructions for adding items to a list. A list is an organizing tool; it does not guarantee a future price, stock level or offer.
Read reviews as evidence to weigh, not a verdict
Look for reviews that describe the specific features or use case that matter to you. Give more weight to concrete, relevant details and recurring patterns than to a rating alone. Reviews can help identify questions to check on the product page, but they do not establish that every unit, seller or offer is the same.

Amazon’s review guidelines call for genuine feedback and prohibit reviews connected to conditional benefits such as future products, discounts or rewards. Read the Amazon customer review guidelines if you want to understand its stated rules.
Check recurring orders before you commit
Subscription or recurring-order offers depend on the product, account and market. Before enrolling, review the current offer for the next-shipment price, delivery frequency, and the controls for skipping or cancelling. Future prices and offer details can change, so check them again before a shipment if they affect your budget.

Use price history cautiously
A 2017 Stuff guide mentioned CamelCamelCamel and its Camelizer browser tool as examples of price-history and alert options. That historical mention does not establish the tools’ current features, accuracy or relationship with Amazon. If you choose a price tracker, check its current service details independently and still judge the live offer by its delivered price and terms.

Use Prime only when the current offer makes sense
Prime pricing and benefits can vary by country and change over time. Check the current details shown for your own account and region, then decide whether the cost is worthwhile for the services you will actually use. Do not assume a subscription makes every item cheaper or changes an offer’s seller, condition or return eligibility.
