You can earn money on Amazon by selling products, publishing books, offering approved handmade goods, submitting designs through Merch on Demand, or referring customers through Amazon’s creator and affiliate programs. Those are different business models—not 19 independently proven ways to make a profit. Your result depends on demand, eligibility, costs, time, and execution.
Use the options below to identify a model you can validate before committing significant money. Amazon program terms and fees can change; the US figures in this article were checked on Amazon’s pages on October 8, 2026.
First, separate revenue from profit
A sale or commission is revenue, not take-home income. For a product sale, estimate what remains after the product cost, Amazon selling-plan and referral fees, fulfillment or shipping, packaging, storage, advertising, returns, and other operating expenses. Also account for your time. For affiliate income, account for the work of creating and maintaining useful content; qualifying purchases and commission rates depend on Amazon’s current terms.
Before buying stock or investing heavily in content, check eligibility and restrictions, estimate costs using the details of the actual product or offer, and test whether customers want it. Amazon’s Revenue Calculator and Fee Preview can help compare fulfillment methods, but the result depends on your inputs and does not establish that a product will sell or be profitable. See Amazon’s US selling-plan and fee information and FBA fee guidance for current terms.

19 Amazon income options to evaluate
The first nine entries describe Amazon programs or fulfillment choices; the remaining entries are ways to apply those models. The list is a practical set of options, not evidence that any approach reliably earns money for a typical participant.
1. Sell products as an Amazon marketplace seller
List products customers are permitted to buy and sell on Amazon. The US pricing page showed an Individual plan at $0.99 per item and a Professional plan at $39.99 per month when checked October 8, 2026; category referral fees also apply. These are US page figures, not a complete estimate of selling costs. Compare the live plan terms with your expected sales volume and check the product category’s fees before choosing.
2. Use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)
With FBA, Amazon stores eligible inventory and handles picking, packing, and shipping orders. FBA charges are additional to selling-plan and referral fees and depend on the product and fulfillment details. Estimate fees using accurate dimensions, weight, category, price, and shipping assumptions; convenience does not guarantee a better margin.
3. Fulfill marketplace orders yourself
Merchant fulfillment gives you responsibility for storing stock, packing orders, shipping them, and handling the related service work. Compare your actual labor, packaging, postage, and operating costs against an FBA estimate for the same product. Neither fulfillment method is automatically more profitable.

4. Publish an eBook with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)
KDP lets authors publish eBooks for sale through Amazon. For Amazon.com, KDP says its 70% royalty option price band is $2.99–$12.99, effective July 7, 2026. That is a price-band requirement, not a promise that every sale returns 70% of the list price: eligibility and the applicable royalty terms determine the calculation. Review KDP’s eBook list-price requirements before setting a price.
5. Publish a paperback or another KDP book format
KDP also supports publishing books in other formats, including paperbacks. You need the rights to publish the work, and printing costs and royalty terms differ by format and sale. Check the current format-specific terms rather than using an eBook calculation to estimate a paperback’s proceeds.
6. Sell eligible handmade goods through Amazon Handmade
Handmade is an application-based program for approved makers and collaborative groups. Amazon’s program page says approved Handmade sellers’ monthly Professional selling fee is waived after the first month. Each shipped unit incurs a 15% referral fee or $0.30, whichever is greater. Custom Handmade items must be seller-fulfilled, so account for the production and shipping work when estimating what remains.
7. Submit designs through Amazon Merch on Demand
Merch on Demand is an option for submitting artwork for eligible print-on-demand products, including apparel and electronics, and earning royalties on sales. It avoids buying finished inventory in advance, but does not guarantee acceptance, customer demand, or recurring income. Review Amazon’s selling programs directory for program information.

8. Refer shoppers through Amazon Associates
Associates lets publishers and creators use tagged Special Links to refer shoppers to Amazon. Commissions depend on qualifying purchases, the current agreement, session rules, exclusions, and product category. Amazon’s schedule checked October 8, 2026, lists 4.5% for physical books and 3% for listed categories including Tools and Home; rates are changeable, so check the current Associates commission schedule rather than treating those examples as permanent.
9. Create an Influencer storefront and shoppable content
Eligible creators can curate recommendations in an Amazon Influencer storefront and create shoppable content. Amazon may select qualifying content to appear on Amazon, where a separate onsite commission schedule applies. Onsite selection is not guaranteed, and onsite rates should not be confused with the rates for traffic sent from your own channels.
10. Try retail arbitrage
Retail arbitrage means sourcing discounted products from retail stores and reselling eligible items on Amazon. Before purchasing, check that you can list the product, that its condition and documentation meet Amazon’s rules, and that the likely sale price leaves room after fees, shipping or fulfillment, and other costs. A clearance price alone does not make an item profitable.
11. Try online arbitrage
Online arbitrage uses online retailers as sourcing channels for products resold on Amazon. Check listing eligibility and restrictions first, then include shipping, fulfillment, fees, and realistic sell-through assumptions in your estimate. It is a sourcing tactic, not a separate Amazon program or a guarantee of sales.

- QUALITY INVOICES: Adams Order books provide a professional invoice or customer receipt; a great way to create and maintain a professional image for small businesses and service providers
- 50 TWO-PART CARBONLESS FORMS: Customers get the perforated white top copy; retain the canary and pink copies for your records
- WRAP-AROUND COVER: Fold the back cover between sets to keep invoices neat and legible
- ROOM FOR CUSTOMIZATION: A blank space at top leaves room for your company stamp; a big savings over custom-printed forms
- CONSECUTIVELY NUMBERED: Large 6-digit numbers in the upper right hand corner help you thumb through orders quickly
12. Resell wholesale inventory
Wholesale sellers buy stock from suppliers for resale. Confirm that the supplier and documentation meet the requirements for the products you plan to list, and model fees, storage, fulfillment, and the quantity you can realistically sell. Buying at wholesale prices does not guarantee a sale or placement in a prominent offer position.
13. Develop a private-label product
Private label involves developing or sourcing a product to sell under your own brand. It can require more product development, compliance work, and inventory capital than reselling an existing item. Validate customer demand and calculate the full costs before placing an order; no general earnings estimate can predict the result for a particular product.
14. Make eligible Handmade products to order
A maker who qualifies for Handmade can consider made-to-order goods rather than producing a large stock in advance. Application approval and Handmade requirements apply, and Custom Handmade items must be seller-fulfilled. Price the work with production time, materials, packaging, shipping, and the program’s per-unit referral fee in view.
15. Create print-on-demand designs
Original artwork submitted to Merch on Demand can be applied to eligible products without purchasing finished inventory first. This is an application of the program described above, not a separate source of guaranteed royalties. Consider design effort and the uncertainty of customer demand before treating it as an income plan.

16. Write niche nonfiction or practical guides
A focused guide can be published through KDP when you own the necessary rights and can address a real reader need. Choose a subject where you can provide accurate, useful information, and estimate proceeds using the format’s current royalty terms. Publishing a book does not establish that readers will find or buy it.
17. Develop original workbooks or journals
Workbooks and journals are possible book products, but they still need a clear purpose, original value, and an audience. Treat them as publishing projects rather than effortless, guaranteed-income products. Check KDP’s current content and format rules before creating a title.
18. Publish product-focused editorial content
Useful comparisons, explainers, and tutorials can support Associates links when recommendations genuinely help readers. This route requires creating and maintaining trustworthy content, and commissions depend on Amazon’s current program terms. Make affiliate relationships clear near the relevant links and include Amazon’s required Associate statement on your site.
19. Make creator-led product recommendations
Creators can use eligible social content and an Influencer storefront to organize product recommendations. Amazon may surface selected shoppable content onsite, but acceptance, selection, and earnings are not guaranteed. Build recommendations around content your audience finds useful rather than assuming a storefront alone will attract shoppers.

Choose a route that fits your resources
Compare the options by the work and risk they require, not just by their apparent ease of entry.
- Capital and inventory risk: FBA, self-fulfillment, arbitrage, wholesale, and private label involve physical products and can tie up money in stock. KDP, Associates, Influencer, and Merch on Demand avoid some inventory burdens, but still require eligible participation and time or creative work.
- Skills and time: Product sourcing and fulfillment require operational work; publishing requires a useful, original book; referral income depends on content and audience trust; design programs depend on creating work customers want.
- Audience dependence: Associates and creator recommendations rely on reaching shoppers through useful content or an audience. Product sellers also need customers, but their costs and tasks center on the offer, inventory, and fulfillment.
- Fees and eligibility: Check current program approval, listing restrictions, category terms, and fee schedules before spending. Treat every fee estimate as specific to the product, format, plan, or category entered.
- Validation: Test the smallest reasonable version of an idea. For physical products, verify eligibility and calculate unit economics before buying inventory; for books or content, validate the reader or audience need before investing heavily.
Disclose Amazon affiliate links clearly
If you earn from Associates referrals, make the relationship clear and conspicuous near the recommendation or links. Amazon also requires the statement: “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.” Include it on your site and follow the current Associates Operating Agreement and disclosure guidance. A disclosure does not change which purchases qualify or what commission rate applies.
What “proven” can and cannot mean here
Amazon’s official pages establish that these programs and selling arrangements exist and describe selected terms. They do not establish that all 19 options have been independently proven profitable or that a typical participant will earn a particular amount. Choose based on your eligibility, available time and capital, and a cost-and-demand test—not on an earnings guarantee.
Quick Recap
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
