To make Cash App harder to access and less open to unwanted contact, turn on Security Lock, enable alerts, lock a lost Cash App Card, limit who can request money, and review how people can find you. These settings reduce some risks, but they do not make every payment or account detail invisible to other Cash App users.
How do I make my Cash App private?
Use the current app’s Security, Privacy, and Notifications settings to review these controls. Labels and availability may vary by account or device, and Cash App’s published help pages do not establish a stable tap-by-tap path for every option.
- Require authentication. Turn on Security Lock and choose the available face, fingerprint, or PIN option. Where offered, require it for app access or before a payment goes through. Cash App describes Security Lock as an added authentication step, not protection against every scam or a way to reverse a payment you authorized. Cash App’s security page
- Enable alerts. Turn on available notifications for sign-ins, large transactions, and account-setting changes so you can notice activity you do not recognize. Cash App’s security page
- Review request permissions. Choose who may request money from you. If contacts-only is available and suits you, use it to narrow requests. Cash App’s privacy controls
- Review discoverability. Check whether others can find you by name, phone number, or email, and narrow those options if you prefer. Cash App’s getting-started guide
- Lock a lost or exposed card. Use Card Lock in the app if your physical Cash App Card is lost or exposed. Unlock it later if you recover it and want to use it again. Cash App’s security page
How do I lock my Cash App card?
Open the current Cash App settings or card controls and use Card Lock. Cash App says locked-card transactions are declined until you unlock the card. This control applies to the physical Cash App Card; it does not lock your account or Cash App Tag. Cash App’s security page
How do I stop people from requesting money on Cash App?
In the app’s current Privacy settings, review who is allowed to request money. Cash App describes an option to restrict requests to contacts; choose it if it appears for your account and you want to reduce requests from people outside your contacts. This changes who can send you a request, not whether you can receive every other kind of payment. Cash App’s privacy controls

Can people see my Cash App transactions?
Do not assume that a payment is fully private from other Cash App customers. Cash App’s Privacy Notice says some information may be made available to other customers to help them identify the person they are transacting with. It lists details that may be shared, including your name, Cashtag, prior transaction history, account tenure, and whether you appear in their contacts. The notice also describes transaction information Cash App collects, such as time and place, parties’ names, descriptions, amounts, devices, and payment methods. Request and discoverability controls do not erase transaction records or make all payment details invisible. Cash App Privacy Notice
What is the difference between Card Lock and Tag Lock?
Card Lock controls transactions using the physical Cash App Card. If you use a Cash App Tag, its lock is a separate control: Cash App’s Terms say a Tag is linked to an eligible Cash App Card, can be locked or unlocked in the app, and operates independently of Card Lock. Locking the Tag does not lock the card. Transactions initiated before the Tag is disabled may still be processed. Cash App Terms

What do Cash App’s broader privacy choices cover?
The Privacy Notice describes access and deletion requests and certain opt-outs related to sale or targeted advertising, where applicable. It directs users to Cash App support or phone support for access and deletion requests, and to the website’s Your Privacy Choices link to opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising sharing. These choices are separate from in-app controls for payment requests and discoverability. Deleting personal information may affect your ability to continue using Cash App services. Cash App Privacy Notice

What should I do if I suspect a scam or unauthorized transaction?
- Do not share a sign-in code or PIN. Cash App says, “Cash App will never ask you for your sign-in code or PIN.” Treat a request for either as suspicious, even if the sender claims to represent Cash App. Cash App’s security page
- Report an unfamiliar transaction. Open the activity feed, select the transaction, and tap Report, as described by Cash App. Cash App’s security page
- Contact support through an official route. Use in-app chat or the phone support details on Cash App’s official site. Do not rely on contact information supplied in an unsolicited message. Cash App’s security page
