Start with the tax-document instructions Amazon gave you when your employment ended. If you cannot access the form, contact Amazon payroll or employer support and confirm the mailing address on file. The public information available does not confirm a universal former-employee portal or a specific Amazon login route, so do not assume your Amazon shopping account or an ADP account is the right place.
How to get your Amazon W-2 after leaving
- Check your separation paperwork and personal messages. Look through documents and emails Amazon sent when your employment ended for tax-form delivery instructions. Check your mail as well.
- Use only a tax-document account Amazon specifically identified. If Amazon provided former-employee portal instructions, follow those. Do not treat an Amazon customer account as payroll access.
- Contact Amazon payroll or employer support if you cannot retrieve the form. Ask how former employees receive W-2s and confirm the mailing address Amazon has on file. The IRS says the employer is the quickest way to obtain a current-year W-2: IRS guidance on transcripts and copies of Form W-2.
Amazon payroll job postings mention ADP as a payroll vendor and describe W-2 questions and corrections as payroll responsibilities. That does not establish that former employees should log in to ADP or that it is Amazon’s current employee-facing route. When should a former employee receive the W-2?
For employees generally, employers must furnish W-2 copies by the annual due date. If your employment ended before the calendar year closed, the employer may furnish your W-2 earlier. IRS instructions also describe a 30-day timing rule when an employee requests a W-2 after leaving: the deadline is tied to the request or the final wage payment, whichever is later, in the circumstances covered by the instructions. The applicable dates can vary by tax year, including when a due date falls on a weekend or holiday. Check the current instructions rather than relying on a date from a prior year: IRS General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3 (2026) and IRS Topic No. 752.
What to do if Amazon does not provide the form
If you have contacted Amazon and still do not have a W-2 by the applicable deadline, follow the IRS steps for a missing form. The IRS may contact your employer; if the form remains unavailable, it explains when Form 4852 may be used as a substitute. An IRS wage and income transcript can help with federal tax information, but it may not include state or local tax information shown on your W-2. If you attached the W-2 to a paper tax return, the IRS says you can request a copy of that return through its process, which may involve a fee. See the IRS guidance on transcripts and W-2 copies to choose the option that fits your needs.
If the W-2 is available but incorrect
Contact Amazon and ask for a corrected W-2 rather than trying to change the employer-issued form yourself. Amazon payroll job descriptions identify W-2 questions and corrections as payroll responsibilities, but they do not confirm a particular support channel for former employees. Keep your tax and account details private
Contact Amazon through a channel you can verify from your own employment or separation records. Do not post your Social Security number, employee ID, or login details in a public forum or comment thread. This guidance is for U.S. employees receiving a Form W-2; it does not establish the process for workers outside the United States or independent contractors.
