If you want to review spam reviews as a job, look for openings on Yelp’s careers listings for its User Operations team. Yelp says this team works on content integrity, potential fraud and moderation, but the available information does not confirm a current opening or its qualifications. If you want a particular review removed from a business page, report it to Yelp for moderator review instead; reporting is not a job, and removal is not guaranteed.
What Yelp’s review-moderation work involves
Yelp identifies its moderation group as User Operations. The team protects content integrity, investigates potential fraud and evaluates flagged content. Yelp describes using technology alongside human moderators, who assess reports against the platform’s Content Guidelines. Its leadership information and ESG materials describe the team’s work, but they do not establish current entry-level job requirements.
Moderation is different from Yelp’s automated recommendation software. That software evaluates whether reviews are useful or reliable enough to recommend; a review that is not recommended has not necessarily been removed. Yelp explains the distinction in its Content Guidelines and review recommendation guidance.
How to look for a Yelp moderation job
- Open Yelp’s official careers listings and search for current openings related to User Operations, content integrity, fraud investigation or moderation.
- Read the live vacancy carefully. Use its stated title, location, qualifications, schedule and application instructions; those details can vary by opening.
- Apply through the official listing. The team’s general responsibilities do not prove that Yelp is hiring for a particular role.
Yelp’s 2023 ESG report describes Vice President of User Operations Noorie Malik’s leadership responsibilities, including tracking operational measures such as turnaround time and quality evaluation and supporting a geographically dispersed team. That is an example of leadership work, not evidence of requirements for an entry-level moderator position.

If you mean reporting spam on a Yelp business page
A business representative or Yelp user can flag a specific review for moderator evaluation. Yelp may remove content that violates its policies, but it does not promise removal simply because a review is negative or the business disagrees with its claims.
Report a review as a business representative
- Sign in to the Yelp for Business account for the listing. You may need to claim the business page first.
- Open the Reviews section, find the review and open its three-dot More Options menu.
- Select Report Review and explain the specific policy concern with relevant, verifiable details.
Report a review as a Yelp user
- Log in to Yelp and locate the review.
- Open its More Options menu and choose the report option.
- Describe the suspected violation clearly and provide relevant details.
Yelp says moderators evaluate reports against its guidelines and email the reporter after the evaluation, which may take several days. Business reporting tools can also show a report’s status. The steps and follow-up are described in Yelp’s review-reporting guidance.

What can justify a report—and what usually cannot
Give moderators a concrete reason to investigate rather than relying on suspicion or dissatisfaction. Yelp identifies possible policy concerns that include conflicts of interest, reviews that do not describe the reviewer’s firsthand consumer experience, and inappropriate content.
- Possible conflict of interest: The reviewer may be a competitor, current or former employee, someone affiliated with the business, or someone who received an incentive. Suspicion alone is usually not enough to establish a conflict.
- Not a firsthand experience: The review describes another person’s experience or a different business rather than the reviewer’s own experience with the business being reviewed.
- Inappropriate or improper content: Examples include threats, hate speech, harassment, private information or plagiarism.
- Negative opinion or a factual disagreement: These alone generally are not grounds for removal. Yelp says moderators typically allow people to stand behind what they write and do not generally take sides in disputes over facts.
Yelp’s Content Guidelines explain the relevant content rules. If a review remains up, a business can respond publicly or contact the reviewer directly through its business account.

Why paying for review removal is risky
Do not pay a person or service that promises to suppress, alter or remove reviews. Yelp’s Terms of Service prohibit paying or being paid to post, modify, withhold or remove reviews. A legitimate report goes through Yelp’s own review process; an outside promise does not guarantee a policy decision.

Yelp’s 2021 Trust & Safety Report says its User Operations team removed more than 218,600 reported reviews in 2021, and that 41% of reported reviews that year were removed for violating content policies.
