If your Amazon order has not entered the shipping process, you may be able to add a gift receipt through Your Orders. Open the order, choose View or edit order, look for gift options, select the gift receipt option if it appears, and save. Amazon’s instructions do not confirm a reliable way to add one once an order is shipping or delivered.
Try adding the gift receipt before the order ships

Sign in to the Amazon account used to place the order and open Your Orders.

Select the order, then choose View or edit order.

Look for gift options. If the gift receipt option is available, select it and save your changes. Amazon UK Help says gift options can be added or changed while an order is not yet in the shipping process, and describes emailing the recipient a digital gift receipt after delivery as one option. Labels and availability can vary by marketplace. Gift options are not available for every item or order; Amazon says it will show a notice when an option is unavailable. Amazon seller documentation on gift options.

If the order is already shipping or delivered
Check the order page for a gift receipt control. If it is missing, contact Amazon support and ask whether a receipt can be made available for that specific order. The official instructions cited above cover edits before the shipping process; they do not establish that an order can be converted to a gift or given a new gift receipt after shipping or delivery.
How a gift recipient can use a gift receipt
Amazon.com directs gift recipients to its Gift Returns Center. The recipient can use the order number shown on the packing slip or digital gift receipt to start a return. Whether a particular item can be returned, and by when, depends on the terms that apply to that item and order; having a gift receipt does not guarantee return eligibility or extend a return window.
