After filing, check case status, cause lists, notices, and portal notifications separately; each serves a different purpose.
Start at the official GSTAT e-filing portal
Open the GSTAT e-filing portal from the GSTAT website. Register or log in using the route that matches the party or authorized representative role displayed on the site. The portal provides filing, case resources, tracking facilities, and help. Use the current portal screens and notices: labels and steps shown in an older guide may not exactly match the live interface.
How do I file an appeal on the GSTAT portal?
The official appeal-filing manual describes a staged form. Complete each section in sequence, save, and proceed using the controls currently displayed.
- Open appeal filing. From the appellant area, select the appeal-filing function shown for your account.
- Enter order details. Provide the information requested about the order being challenged.
- Complete basic details. The manual’s screen includes fields such as the applicable Act and section, case type, jurisdiction, state or zone, and the authority whose order is challenged. Follow the live form rather than relying on a screenshot alone.
- Complete case and appellant details. Enter the case information and appellant particulars requested by the portal.
- Add respondent or respondents. Check names and details against the case documents before proceeding.
- Upload documents and complete the checklist. Use the document stage and the portal’s current checklist to confirm that the material corresponds to the appeal.
- Inspect the final preview. Check entries and attachments before submitting. Correct errors before moving on where the portal permits.
- Complete submission and payment steps. Follow the case-specific instructions shown by the portal, then save the filing acknowledgment and payment evidence.
Documents, payment, and filing records
The manual confirms a document-upload stage, but the materials available here do not establish one universal list of documents, file formats, or upload-size limits for every appeal type. Check the current portal checklist and the applicable rules for your matter instead of relying on a generic checklist.

How can I track my GSTAT appeal?
After filing, use the portal’s case-status or case-tracking service to check procedural progress. Check the cause list separately for scheduled hearings, and review notices and orders for documents or decisions. A status entry does not substitute for checking whether a hearing has been listed.

If the tribunal or portal returns a submission for correction, use the portal’s re-filing function and follow the official GSTAT appeal re-filing manual and resources. Limitation depends on the order, applicable provision, category of appeal, and relevant notifications. CBIC’s tax information portal reproduces section 112 of the CGST Act; its notes describe ordinary three-month and six-month periods in specified circumstances, with statutory qualifications and possible condonation. These periods should not be treated as individualized legal advice. Verify the order date, when it was communicated, the governing provision, and any applicable notification for your case.

A Ministry of Finance release dated 30 June 2026 said the filing date for appeals under section 112(1) read with section 112(3) had been extended from 30 June to 31 July 2026. It also reported 30,000 appeals filed in the final 15 days and daily filings peaking at 5,500 during that period. Those figures describe that stated period, not current portal totals. The Ministry’s 30 June 2026 release advised taxpayers to plan ahead rather than wait for the deadline.
A separate Ministry report dated 29 July 2026 described GSTAT President Justice (Retd.) Sanjaya Kumar Mishra’s explanation of a token process: one separate token per appeal, with 60 days to complete filing after token generation. The report said taxpayers could generate a token by 31 July 2026 and finish the appeal within 60 days. This is a dated account, not confirmation that the same arrangement remains available now. The cited official materials establish neither a later change nor the present status of the deadline or token process as of 4 October 2026. Before relying on either, check the latest GSTAT notice and applicable government notification, along with the live portal instructions.
