What happened to Edge Coupons?
Microsoft discontinued the built-in Coupons feature to simplify its shopping offerings. The old instructions found in many guides are obsolete; there is no current Edge setting that restores the retired feature.

Do not rely on old directions that tell you to find Save time and money with Shopping in Microsoft Edge to restore coupon testing. That setting may affect current shopping features, but it does not bring back the retired standalone Coupons feature. How to use Edge’s current shopping tools
- Open Microsoft Edge and visit a supported product page.
- Select the Copilot icon in the Edge sidebar.
- Review the shopping information in the Copilot pane. Depending on availability, this may include price comparisons, price history, tracking, product reviews, alternative buying options, or cashback opportunities.
These features are not identical to the old coupon system. Copilot may help you assess a price or identify a cashback opportunity, but it should not be expected to automatically test promotional codes at checkout.
Turn on the settings needed for shopping insights
If Copilot does not show shopping information, check the current shopping-related setting:
Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Search and connected experiences

Make sure shopping features are enabled there. Microsoft says personalized shopping features require signing in with a Microsoft account, and availability can vary by region. An enabled setting does not guarantee every feature will appear on every product page. Microsoft’s shopping guidance
Update Microsoft Edge before troubleshooting
An outdated browser can prevent newer Copilot and shopping features from appearing. To check for an update:
- Select Settings and more (…).
- Choose Help and feedback.
- Select About Microsoft Edge.
- Allow Edge to check for updates. Choose Download and install if offered. If the update has already downloaded, select Restart.

Why Copilot shopping may still be missing
A missing shopping panel does not necessarily mean your browser is broken. Check these points in order:
- Update Edge: Open edge://settings/help and install any available update.
- Sign in: Use a Microsoft account for personalized shopping features.
- Check connected experiences: Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Search and connected experiences and confirm shopping features are allowed.
- Try a product page: Shopping insights may not appear on a general search page or every retailer site.
- Check regional availability: Some capabilities are rolling out gradually, and features can vary by region and account.
What about Express Checkout and enterprise policies?
Some Microsoft documentation still describes automatic coupon application through Express Checkout. That guidance conflicts with Microsoft’s newer, explicit notice that the Coupons feature has been retired. Do not treat it as a reliable method for restoring coupon testing in Edge. Although the policy documentation still mentions shopping and coupon behavior for supported policy versions, enabling it is not a supported way to restore the retired consumer Coupons feature. Because Edge no longer tests coupons automatically, use a more deliberate process:
- Check Copilot for price history and competing offers before buying.
- Look for a retailer’s official email-signup, loyalty, student, military, or first-order discount.
- Compare the final delivered price, including shipping, taxes, membership requirements, and return costs.
- Check whether cashback is available and read its activation and payout terms before completing the purchase.
- Apply only codes from the retailer or a reputable coupon provider. Avoid browser extensions or websites that request unnecessary payment, email, or account information.
- Confirm the discount appears in the order summary before paying. A coupon may still be excluded because of product, seller, minimum-spend, or expiration rules.
Never assume a lower advertised price is the lowest total cost. A discount code can be worse than a competitor’s lower price if shipping or a membership fee removes the saving.
