To download historical data from Yahoo Finance, open the quote’s Historical Data page, choose a time period, data type and frequency, let the table refresh, then select Download. Yahoo’s help currently says a Gold subscription is required for the CSV export, and the download control is not available for every instrument.

What to know about access and historical coverage
Yahoo currently requires Gold for CSV downloads
Yahoo Help says a Gold subscription is required to download historical data as a CSV. The Gold-plan page lists “40+ years of downloadable data,” but that is a plan feature description, not a promise that every quote has the same depth of history. Check Yahoo’s current subscription-plan details before subscribing, since plan features can change.
Available history varies by instrument
Yahoo says historical prices usually do not go earlier than 1970. If the requested range extends beyond the available history, Yahoo displays the data available within that range. The actual start date depends on the instrument; neither the 1970 note nor the Gold plan’s “40+ years” description guarantees a uniform date range for all quotes. Yahoo’s download help and its plan page describe these points separately.

The Download option may be unavailable
Yahoo says data-licensing restrictions prevent downloads for some instruments. If you do not see Download, verify that you opened the intended ticker and market and check the instrument’s Historical Data page. Yahoo’s help does not specify a workaround when that control is unavailable.
Prices, dividends and splits
Yahoo describes historical price, dividend and split data for most quotes, and says its quote pages provide customizable historical tables for prices, splits and dividends. Availability is not guaranteed for every instrument. See Yahoo Help’s guide to quote pages.

Open and check the CSV
After saving the file, open it in Excel or another spreadsheet program. Yahoo’s reviewed help pages do not specify one universal column layout, timezone rule or date-boundary convention. Check the exported file itself before relying on its columns or interpreting the first and last dates in your selected range.
