The safest way to reach eBay support is through eBay Help or the official Contact eBay page. Sign in when prompted, select Contact us, choose the category that matches your problem, and use the chat, callback, email, or phone option eBay displays for that case. eBay routes requests to issue-specific teams, so an old “universal” phone number from an unofficial site may not work.
Use eBay’s official support route
Open eBay Help or the Contact eBay page in a desktop browser or your phone’s browser. Select Contact us at the bottom of the Contact eBay page, then choose what you need help with. eBay’s own guidance says this process gets you to the right agent.
Sign in if eBay asks. A signed-in session can connect support with your recent orders, listings, account details, and transaction history. If you bought as a guest, use eBay’s separate guest-buyer help route and keep the order information from your confirmation email available.
How to contact eBay from a computer
- Open eBay Help or Contact eBay. Use a current desktop browser and make sure you are on an official eBay page.
- Sign in. This enables personalized, order-linked support when available.
- Select Contact us. On the Contact eBay page, the link appears at the bottom; an individual Help article may also show a contact option after you scroll.
- Choose the closest issue. Select the relevant area, such as buying, selling, returns, shipping, billing, account access, or security.
- Follow the offered route. Depending on the issue, eBay may show online chat, a callback, email, or a phone call. If a phone call is offered, use the number and passcode displayed in that Contact eBay session.
How to contact eBay from a phone
The same workflow works in a phone browser. Open eBay Help or Contact eBay, sign in, tap Contact us, select the issue, and follow the prompts. The available methods can differ from what appears on a computer because eBay selects support options by issue, account context, and current availability.

If eBay offers a callback, enter or confirm the requested details and keep your phone available. If it offers chat, remain in the support session until you have saved any case number or instructions. Do not switch to a number found in a search result when the official page has provided a case-specific number.
Which contact method should you choose?

Chat, callback, email, and phone are not guaranteed for every issue. Two users can see different options, and availability can change by geography and time. The option displayed in your Contact eBay session is the current one for your case.

How to speak with a real person
There is no single universal customer-service number supplied in eBay’s official guidance. To reach a person, start with Contact eBay and complete the issue selection. If eBay offers a phone call, it will show the applicable number and passcode in that tab; if it offers chat or a callback instead, use that route. Treat numbers copied from old articles, forums, or other unofficial pages as unverified.
What to prepare before contacting support
- Transaction or purchase date
- Item number
- eBay username or the email used for a guest purchase
- A short description of what happened and the result you want
- Steps you have already taken, including messages sent, returns opened, or tracking information checked
- Relevant screenshots, tracking details, or seller/buyer messages, if the contact flow permits attachments
For a recent purchase or sale, sign in and begin by selecting the item. This usually gives the support flow more context than a general description.

Examples of the right route for common problems
An item has not arrived
Sign in, open the purchase, and choose the delivery or item-not-received issue. Follow the resolution steps shown; if contact is needed, eBay will display the available method for that case.
You need help with a return or refund
Open the transaction and select the return or refund category. Sellers with a case involving a return, refund, or item-not-received claim should use Seller Help when it is offered.

Your account or listing has a policy problem
Use the account or selling-policy category in Contact eBay. For a specific policy notification, check Resolution Hub for the notice and available action.
You suspect account or payment security trouble
Choose the account or security category rather than a general buying or selling topic. Do not disclose passwords, one-time security codes, or full payment credentials to anyone who contacts you outside the official eBay session.

When the contact option is missing
- Sign in and reopen Contact eBay so the page can load account-specific choices.
- Return to the Help search and choose the article that most closely matches the problem; its contact option may differ from a general category.
- Select a more precise issue instead of a broad topic such as “other.”
- For a sale, check Seller Help; for a policy notice, check Resolution Hub.
- Try the same official page in a current browser on the other available device if the page is not displaying correctly.
If no phone option appears, that does not necessarily indicate an error. eBay may provide only chat, email, self-service steps, or a callback for that issue.
