Sign in if you can, especially for help with a recent purchase or sale. eBay’s contact methods depend on the issue and your location, so there is no single phone number or channel to promise to every buyer or seller.
How to contact eBay about a specific problem
- Open eBay Help & Contact. Use eBay’s official Help & Contact page or its Contact eBay page. Sign in if possible; eBay recommends signing in to improve the support experience.
- Choose the issue that best matches your situation. For a recent order or sale, start from the relevant item or transaction when that option is available. The help center covers topics including missing items, returns, shipping, billing, password resets, and account security.
- Check the matching help article. Follow its self-service steps. If you still need help, use the contact option on the article or continue through the Contact us flow.
- Use the contact method eBay presents. Follow the available route for your issue and region. Options may vary; do not rely on a phone number, callback, chat, email address, or hours found elsewhere unless eBay’s current flow offers that option to you.
eBay describes the process this way: “Select Contact us at the bottom of this page, choose what you need help with and we’ll get you to the right agent.” The available route shown in your account is the practical guide to whether an agent can help with that particular issue.

Can you talk to a real person or call eBay?
Sometimes eBay offers a way to contact an agent, but the available channels depend on the question and country. eBay Canada, for example, says the options can include online chat or a quick phone call, and that availability depends on the issue. That guidance is specific to Canada; it does not establish identical options elsewhere. Check the Contact eBay flow for your location rather than assuming a direct number, live chat, or callback is universally available.
The help center also provides articles and an automated assistant. If automated help does not solve the issue, continue through the issue-specific contact route and select an agent option if one appears.

What information to have ready
For a transaction-related issue, eBay Canada recommends providing useful context such as dates, the item number, usernames, and steps already tried. Gather the relevant details before starting, then share them through eBay’s official support flow.
- Item number and order or sale details
- Relevant dates, such as when the item was purchased, shipped, or reported missing
- The buyer’s or seller’s username, if relevant
- A short description of the problem and what you have already tried
Contacting a seller is different from contacting eBay
If you need an answer from the person who sold you an item, use the seller-contact option rather than treating it as eBay customer service. For a completed transaction, go to Purchase history or use the item’s Contact seller control. Before buying, you can ask a question only if the listing offers Contact seller. Keep transaction communications and any resolution on eBay.

Seller support: Seller Help and Resolution Hub
Sellers should choose the support area that matches the problem. eBay points sellers to Seller Help for issues such as returns, items not received, refunds, feedback, and defect removal. For policy notifications, use the Resolution Hub route identified by eBay’s Contact page. If the issue concerns a particular order, start with that transaction when available.
