For Amazon.com customers in the United States, the official customer-service phone number is 1-888-280-4331. Amazon also offers chat and callback support through its website and shopping app, but the buttons you see depend on your order, account, location, and issue.
The safest approach is to start inside your Amazon account or use Amazon’s official Contact Us page. That helps you avoid fake “Amazon support” numbers, phishing pages, and callers asking for gift-card codes or one-time passwords.

Amazon has publicly identified this number for consumer customer service and package-delivery assistance. Amazon says consumer support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including by phone and chat.
Calling the number does not necessarily connect you straight to a person. You may first go through automated account verification and issue routing. Have the relevant order number, delivery details, billing information, or device serial number available, but do not give an unsolicited caller your password or one-time verification code.

How to contact Amazon through the website
- Open Amazon Customer Service.
- Sign in if Amazon asks you to do so.
- Select the order, account, device, subscription, or help topic related to your problem.
- Continue through the suggested troubleshooting steps.
- If self-service does not resolve the issue, look for Chat with us, Request a phone call, or an email option.
You can also reach the Customer Service Home Page by typing customer service into Amazon’s search bar. The page covers order status, refunds, digital subscriptions, and registered Kindle, Fire TV, and Echo devices.
How to use Amazon chat
Amazon’s chat feature is normally opened from the Customer Service workflow rather than from one permanent public chat URL.
- Go to Amazon Customer Service.

- Select Chat with us when Amazon displays it.

Amazon may offer a callback after you select a support topic. The button can be labeled:

- Request a callback
In some versions of the support flow, you can open chat and type Request a phone call. A callback is not guaranteed for every issue, account, location, or time. If it is missing, try selecting the specific order rather than using general support, or try the Amazon app instead of the website.

Where to get help with orders, returns, refunds, and deliveries
For an order-specific problem, the most direct route is:
Your Orders → select the order → choose the available help, return, replacement, or delivery option
From the order area, you can commonly:
- Track a package
- Cancel or edit an eligible order
- Start a return or replacement
- View or download an invoice
- Ask for help with a Marketplace order
Use Your Returns to review return and refund progress. Starting with the order itself gives Amazon the transaction details immediately and may expose options that do not appear in general customer service.

How to contact an Amazon Marketplace seller
If an independent seller shipped or sold the item, open the order in Your Orders and look for the seller-contact or seller-support option. That option may not appear on every order. Its availability can depend on the seller, fulfillment method, order status, and type of problem.
If Contact Seller is unavailable, use Amazon Customer Service. Depending on the transaction and circumstances, Amazon’s order-support or A-to-z Guarantee processes may apply if the problem cannot be resolved with the seller.
If you cannot sign in to Amazon
Do not keep trying ordinary order support if the problem is account access. Start with Amazon’s Account & Login Issues page.

Amazon documents this option for people who do not have an account or cannot create one. Does Amazon have a customer-service email address?
Amazon does not advertise one universal public customer-service email address for ordinary Amazon.com orders. When email support is available, Amazon generally presents it within the Contact Us workflow after you select the issue.
Be cautious with old articles that present addresses such as [email protected] as a general customer-service inbox. That is not a universal replacement for Amazon’s current support process.
Some departments have separate contact forms or email-based support, including Amazon Pay, accessibility, and certain account or community matters.
Amazon Pay is different from Amazon.com orders
Amazon Pay handles payments made on participating third-party websites using Amazon account payment methods. It does not handle ordinary products purchased directly from Amazon.com.
For an Amazon Pay transaction:
- Go to Amazon Pay and sign in.
- Choose Check your Amazon Pay orders.
- Find the transaction.
- Select Details & Support.
Use the merchant’s contact information under Business details for questions about the purchase. The merchant normally handles a refund. If you bought the product directly on Amazon.com, use regular Amazon Customer Service instead.
Separate support for Amazon sellers
Amazon sellers should not use ordinary buyer Customer Service for listing, fulfillment, payout, or seller-account problems.
Sign in to Seller Central, then choose Help or Get Help. Select the relevant store, service, and issue. Depending on the case, Amazon may show Contact an associate, followed by Chat.

If you cannot sign in to Seller Central, use Amazon’s seller login-help or non-logged-in support route. Avoid seller-support phone numbers copied from old third-party articles; they are often outdated or limited to a particular department.
AWS support is not Amazon shopping support
Amazon Web Services customers should use the AWS Support Center or the official AWS Contact Us page. AWS technical, account, and support-plan issues use a separate system. The consumer Amazon customer-service number is not the normal route for AWS problems.
Help with Kindle, Fire TV, Echo, and digital services
Amazon’s Customer Service Home Page includes support for registered Kindle, Fire TV, and Echo devices, as well as digital content and subscriptions. Selecting the registered device or digital service can send you to a more appropriate troubleshooting and contact path.

A phone number, caller ID, email address, or webpage is not proof that you are dealing with Amazon. Phone numbers can be spoofed, and scammers frequently claim that an account has been compromised or that a payment must be “verified.”
Amazon will not require you, through an unsolicited contact, to provide or do any of the following:
- Read out your password or one-time verification code
- Buy gift cards and provide the claim codes
- Give remote access to your computer or phone
- Pay by bank transfer
- Pay outside Amazon to complete or protect a transaction
