The right wallet for Bitcoin, XRP, and SHIB depends on who controls the keys, how you will recover access, and whether the specific wallet setup supports each asset on the network you use. A custodial service can be simpler; software wallets are convenient for regular access; hardware wallets offer more isolation for keys. None is universally best, and no wallet makes a cryptocurrency investment safe or private.
Can one wallet hold Bitcoin, XRP, and SHIB?
Potentially, but confirm support for the exact asset, network, device model, and wallet software—not just the wallet brand. A listing for XRP or SHIBA INU (SHIB) does not prove that every model or companion app supports it, or that it supports every token representation called SHIB.

Before choosing or transferring funds, check the wallet provider’s current official compatibility information for all three assets and the specific SHIB network you hold. Some assets may require a compatible third-party wallet rather than the manufacturer’s own app. For example, Ledger’s supported-asset pages list XRP and SHIBA INU (SHIB), while its guidance notes that some assets require third-party wallet software: Ledger supported crypto assets.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCompare wallet types by control, recovery, and convenience
| Wallet type | Who controls the keys? | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Custodial service | A provider holds the keys. The provider may offer password recovery, but access and withdrawals depend on its service. | Can simplify use and, where the provider manages the account, may avoid an individual XRP Ledger account reserve. It adds reliance on the provider. |
| Non-custodial software wallet | You control the keys and recovery information. | Convenient access from a phone or computer, but the keys are stored digitally on an internet-capable device. You are responsible for protecting the device and backup. |
| Hardware wallet | You control keys held on a physical device. | Can isolate keys from an internet-connected phone or computer when used offline, but requires carrying and operating a device. Check model and software support for each asset and the SHIB network. |
These categories describe different balances of convenience, control, and responsibility—not guarantees against loss or mistakes. The XRP Ledger wallet guide likewise frames wallet choice around a person’s needs and comfort with key management.
#1 Best Overall
- BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
- SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
- NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
- 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
- BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.
Choose based on how you will use and recover the wallet
- If you prioritize simpler recovery: A custodial service may offer password recovery, but the provider controls the keys and can affect access to your funds.
- If you want direct control with frequent access: A non-custodial software wallet avoids a custodian, while leaving device security and recovery entirely to you.
- If you want more isolation for long-term storage: Consider a multi-asset hardware wallet, after verifying current model-level and software compatibility for Bitcoin, XRP, and your SHIB network.
Bitcoin.org describes hardware wallets as an offline option for savings, while software wallets favor convenience. The tradeoff is not a promise that hardware storage prevents every loss: Bitcoin.org’s wallet guide.
Understand the XRP Ledger reserve if you self-custody
An XRP Ledger account you control has a protocol reserve requirement. The XRPL documentation currently lists a 1 XRP base reserve and an additional 0.2 XRP owner reserve for each owned ledger item in the general case on mainnet. These are network account rules, not a wallet provider’s fee, and the values may change through fee voting. Check the current XRP Ledger reserve documentation before creating or funding an account.

- Simple & Secure Interface: Manage your digital assets easily with a clear OLED screen for secure on-device confirmations
- Supports 1000s of Coins & Tokens: Securely handle thousands of assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more, all in one wallet
- Effortless Asset Management: Monitor and transact seamlessly with Trezor Suite, our intuitive desktop and mobile app
- Enhanced Backup Solution: Rest assured with Multi-share Backup, eliminating single points of failure for secure cold wallet recovery
A custodial setup may use an account managed by the provider rather than giving each customer an individual ledger account; in that case, the individual account reserve does not apply. That convenience comes with dependence on the provider rather than direct control of the keys.
Protect recovery information and understand privacy limits
For many modern deterministic wallets, a recovery phrase can restore access. Anyone who obtains it may be able to access the corresponding funds, so keep it private and follow the wallet’s official setup and recovery instructions. Bitcoin.org recommends keeping backups in secure places, including more than one physical location: Bitcoin.org’s wallet security guidance.

- Do not enter it into a website in response to unsolicited support or a message.
- Make sure you understand how the selected wallet’s recovery process works before relying on it.

Use a compatibility check before buying or transferring
- Identify the exact SHIB token and network you hold; do not assume every asset named SHIB uses the same network.
- Check the manufacturer’s current supported-asset information for the exact hardware model and wallet software, including any third-party app requirement.
- Confirm the wallet setup also supports Bitcoin and XRP in the way you intend to use them.
- For an XRP Ledger account you control, check the current reserve rules before funding it.
- Set up recovery using the selected wallet’s official instructions, and secure the recovery information before moving a substantial balance.
