Find or search for the transaction, use filters to narrow the list, then select the matching payment to view its details. The same basic lookup is available on PayPal’s website and in its app, though controls can vary by account and interface.
Find a payment in PayPal Activity
- Sign in to PayPal. On the website, select Activity. In the app, tap Activity. PayPal’s instructions for checking payment status cover both routes: PayPal: How do I check the status of my payment?
- Locate the transaction. Scroll through the list or search for the payment. On the website, use Filters to narrow results by status or transaction type. In the app, the filter icon can narrow results by transaction, payment, or date.
- Open the matching result. Select the payment to see its transaction details. For debit-card activity, PayPal says the list shows the recipient, payment date, and amount; selecting an item reveals further details. See PayPal: How do I find my PayPal Debit Card Transaction History?
Use reports for older or broader records
Activity is the quickest place to check an individual payment. For longer-range recordkeeping, PayPal also provides transaction reports and statements through its account reporting tools. PayPal says transaction reports can cover up to seven years of activity, with each request covering up to 12 months. Available download formats listed in its help material include PDF, Quicken, QuickBooks, CSV, and TAB. See PayPal: How do I create and download a report of my PayPal transaction history?
Large history-log requests can take up to five business days to generate, depending on server load; PayPal says it emails you when the file is ready. These are PayPal-published service limits, and the source does not state a publication year.
Personal and business accounts may show different reporting menus
PayPal’s business-account instructions describe a Reports dashboard with activity reports and monthly or custom statements. Reporting labels and workflows can differ by account type, so use the options displayed after signing in rather than assuming every account has the same menu. See PayPal business reporting overview.

- Check PayPal Status for a known system or reporting issue that could explain missing or unreconciled activity.
- Contact PayPal Customer Service if Status does not show a relevant issue or delay. PayPal’s troubleshooting guidance for missing reports also describes regenerating a subscribed report through Activity and All Reports. See PayPal: Why is my report missing transactions or not reconciling?
