First identify which card you have: a Home Depot gift card uses the gift-card balance checker, while a Home Depot credit card uses the separate card-management service. For a gift card, Home Depot’s online checker asks for the card number and PIN and requires a Home Depot account; you can also ask a cashier at a Home Depot store to check it.
Check a Home Depot gift-card balance online
- Open Home Depot’s Check Balance and Reload page.
- Enter the requested Gift Card Number and PIN.
- Sign in to a Home Depot account when prompted. The online balance-checking route requires an account.
If you have saved the gift card to your Home Depot account, the Gift Cards section of Cards & Accounts can also show its balance and purchase history and let you reload it.

Ask a cashier to check a gift card in store
If you would rather not use the online account route, ask a cashier at a Home Depot store to check the gift-card balance. Home Depot lists this as another way to check a gift card.
Check a Home Depot credit-card account
For a credit card, go to Home Depot’s Credit Card Services page and choose Pay & Manage Your Card. This is separate from the gift-card number-and-PIN checker; use the credit-card service for your credit account.

Home Depot’s January 11, 2022 announcement says online account management for the Pro Xtra Credit Card and Commercial Account Card is through Citi Retail Services, including viewing and managing accounts and making payments. That announcement concerns those commercial products and does not establish the current account route for every Home Depot credit-card product.

Home Depot advises customers not to buy, sell, or check gift-card balances through online marketplaces outside Home Depot stores or homedepot.com. Use Home Depot’s official Gift Cards information, its balance checker, or a store cashier.
