You may qualify for an Amazon Prime settlement refund if you were a U.S. Prime customer, used a covered sign-up flow or could not complete online cancellation between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and used no more than 20 Prime Benefits in any 12-month period after enrolling. The FTC’s September 2026 guidance says eligible consumers do not need to file a claim for the current automatic payments. Check the FTC’s current refund information for official updates and administrator contact details.
Who qualifies for an Amazon Prime settlement refund?
Use these three conditions as a screening check. The FTC says Amazon will use its business records to identify eligible consumers, so matching the criteria does not itself confirm that a particular account will be paid.

- You were an Amazon Prime customer in the United States.
- Your sign-up or cancellation experience fell within the covered dates. Between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you either enrolled through a challenged flow or tried to cancel online but could not complete the cancellation.
- You used no more than 20 Prime Benefits in any 12-month period after enrolling. The FTC gives Prime Music and Prime Video products offered free to Prime subscribers as examples of benefits.
The challenged enrollment flows named by the FTC are the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow. The public criteria do not provide a way for a consumer to independently verify which flow Amazon recorded for a past enrollment.
How is the current eligibility rule different from older information?
Older coverage may say a customer had to use fewer than three Prime benefits. That describes an earlier phase, not the current screening threshold. The FTC’s September 2026 refund guidance says the expanded group includes qualifying consumers who used up to 20 benefits in any 12-month period; the revised order specifically adds an escalation group of consumers who used 11 to 20 benefits. The FTC’s September 2026 announcement and the revised court order explain the expanded payments.

Do you need to file a claim now?
No claim or reply to a notice is required for the current automatic payment process described by the FTC. The earlier claims-form deadline was July 27, 2026, but that date does not bar all later payments: the revised order provides for additional automatic payment rounds. The order includes certain claims-process-eligible consumers identified through Amazon’s business records even if they did not submit a claim form, as long as they have not already been paid and are not subject to a holdback.
The FTC says eligible consumers should receive refunds by April 2027. Watch for an automatic check by mail or a payment through PayPal or Venmo. A payment expires 60 days after its issue date, so follow the acceptance instructions promptly.

How much could an eligible customer receive?
The current maximum total refund is $200 per eligible consumer; it is a cap, not a guaranteed payment. The FTC says the earlier payment phase was capped at $51, and the revised order may permit additional payments of up to $149, subject to its distribution conditions. Some consumers who already accepted a payment may receive a further pro rata payment, but the order does not guarantee a supplemental payment or a specific amount to any individual.
According to the FTC, Amazon had issued more than $845 million in redress by September 2026. The overall settlement is $2.5 billion: $1.5 billion in consumer redress and a $1 billion civil penalty. These are FTC-reported settlement figures, not estimates of what an individual will receive.

I didn’t get a refund, now what?
First, compare your history with the three eligibility conditions above. If you appear to qualify but have not received or accepted a payment, or if you have a question about payment status, contact the settlement administrator at [email protected]. The FTC says Amazon uses its own business records to identify eligible consumers; it does not publish a consumer-facing account lookup that can determine an individual’s eligibility.

How to avoid Amazon settlement refund scams
- The FTC says it is not contacting people about these refunds.
- Neither the FTC nor Amazon will ask you to pay money to receive a refund. Do not pay anyone who claims to guarantee a payment or offer special access.
- For official information, use the FTC’s refund page or contact the administrator using the email address listed there.
