A failed FICO score login does not, by itself, prove that FICO is experiencing an outage. First identify who provides the score—myFICO, a participating lender, or another authorized FICO Score distributor—then retry the correct website or app, use the provider’s account-help tools, and ask official support to confirm an incident. The official myFICO materials available for this guide do not provide a public live outage dashboard or confirm a current outage.
Start by identifying the service that is failing
“FICO service” can describe several different access routes. A consumer may buy a score through myFICO, see a score supplied by a lender participating in FICO Score Open Access, or use an authorized FICO Score distributor. Those organizations can have separate accounts, applications, login systems and maintenance schedules. A lender portal being unavailable does not establish that myFICO is unavailable, and a myFICO login problem does not establish that your lender’s score system is down.

Separate the symptom from the conclusion. A page that will not load, a rejected password, a blank score panel and a lender portal error are different failure points. The more independent routes show the same failure, and the more clearly official support acknowledges an incident, the stronger the outage case becomes.

- One failed login: weak evidence. A mistyped password, expired session or account lock can look like downtime.
- Repeated failure on the official route: stronger evidence of a service problem, but still not conclusive if the problem is limited to your account, device or connection.
- Website and app failing for the same account: suggests a broader account or service issue. It still does not identify which component is responsible.
- Several independent users or channels failing: useful context, but third-party reports are not an official confirmation.
- An acknowledgment from myFICO or the affected lender: the most reliable confirmation available to a customer.
The official myFICO support center provides account and login assistance, but the materials reviewed for this article do not establish a public, continuously updated myFICO outage dashboard or confirm an active incident. That is a limit on the available official evidence, not proof that no status page could ever exist. Check the current support pages before relying on any status information.
Follow this check in order
1. Write down the exact provider and URL
Look at the page or app where you normally obtain the score. Record whether it is the myFICO consumer service, a lender’s online banking or card account, or another distributor. Note the web address, the app name, and the time the error occurred. This prevents a lender problem from being reported as a myFICO outage and gives support a precise starting point.
2. Retry the same route once
Return to the official website or open the official app and try the action one more time. Use the normal sign-in path rather than a link from an old email or an unverified search result. If the first attempt showed a temporary network or server message, record the wording or take a screenshot without including passwords, security answers or full account numbers.
A second successful attempt means the first failure was transient; it does not prove that the service is healthy for everyone. A second failure justifies the next checks, not an immediate conclusion that an outage is underway.

3. Test an alternate supported route or device
If the provider offers both a website and an app, try the other supported route. You may also try the same account on another device that you control. Keep the test limited: do not install an unofficial app, enter credentials into a look-alike page, or bypass a security warning.
Interpret the result narrowly:
- If the website fails but the app works, the website path or browser session may be the problem.
- If the app fails but the website works, the app, its session or the mobile route may be affected.
- If both routes fail for the same account, an account-specific issue and a wider service issue remain possible.
- If another device works, the original device, browser or local connection deserves attention before you report a provider-wide outage.
4. Use the account and login help before treating it as downtime
For myFICO, open the myFICO Support Center and use its Login Help topics. The center includes password-reset and account-unlock guidance. A locked account or credential problem can prevent access even when the score service itself is operating.
Follow the reset or unlock instructions only from the official support domain. If a reset email does not arrive, check the address associated with the account and your junk-mail folder, then avoid repeated guesses that could trigger additional security controls. Do not send a password, one-time code or complete payment-card number to support.
5. Check whether the failure is at the score-display stage
You may be able to sign in while the score panel remains blank, spins indefinitely or returns an error. That is different from being unable to authenticate. Record whether you can reach your account dashboard, view other account information, and open the score page itself. A successful login with a missing score can indicate a score-feed or display problem rather than a general account outage.

Do not assume that a missing or delayed score means your credit score changed. FICO explains that a score is calculated from the information in a credit report at the time the score is requested. A display failure prevents you from retrieving the result; it does not, by itself, indicate a change in the underlying score.
6. Contact the operator that controls the failing route
For a myFICO account, use the contact instructions in the official article How do I contact myFICO support?. It states: “You can contact myFICO support by phone or email.” The article lists the following details:

When contacting support, include the provider, the exact error, the time and time zone, whether the website or app was used, whether another route worked, and whether password-reset or unlock steps changed the result. Never include your password or a one-time authentication code. If the failing service is a lender’s portal, contact that lender; myFICO support cannot confirm an outage in a system the lender operates.
Diagnose the symptom instead of guessing the cause
The password is rejected or the account is locked
Start with the provider’s reset and unlock instructions. Check that you are using the email address or username associated with that specific provider. If the account remains inaccessible after the official recovery process, ask support whether the account is locked or whether an incident is affecting authentication. This path is more useful than repeatedly attempting a password that may trigger further security controls.

The site or app will not load at all
Confirm that you are using the official address or app, retry once, and compare the other supported route if one exists. Note whether the rest of your internet connection works and whether the error is a timeout, a maintenance message or a login redirect. Those observations help support distinguish a local connection or session problem from a provider-side failure.
You can log in but the score is missing
Capture the exact message and check whether other account pages open. A score-display or data-feed issue can be narrower than a complete outage. Contact the operator with the time of the request and the score version shown in your account, if it is displayed. Do not repeatedly refresh a page that may be waiting for a delayed response.
Your lender shows an error while myFICO works
That result points first to the lender’s portal or its connection to the score provider. The score may be a FICO Score, but the lender controls the customer-facing login and display. Report the error through the lender’s official support channel and ask whether its score feature is under maintenance. A working myFICO account does not repair a lender portal, and a failed lender portal does not prove a myFICO outage.

Do not use a numerical mismatch as outage evidence. FICO scores can be produced from different versions, credit-report data snapshots and delivery programs. FICO’s consumer materials explain that the calculation reflects credit-report information available when the score is requested. An alternate source can confirm that you can obtain a score, but it may not be a like-for-like test of the unavailable route.

Use alternate access carefully
If you already have an account with a participating lender or authorized distributor, checking it can tell you whether another channel is functioning. Treat that result as a separate observation:

FICO notes on its consumer page that 90% of top lenders use FICO Scores; the page does not state a year for that figure. It describes the reach of FICO Scores, not the likelihood, frequency or duration of outages. No published outage-frequency or outage-duration figure was identified in the official materials used here, so there is no sound basis for estimating how long a suspected incident will last.
Third-party status pages and social posts
Search results may use phrases such as “myFICO app not working” or “myFICO Status,” and third-party problem-report pages may collect user reports. Those reports can help you notice that other people are seeing a similar symptom, but they are not authoritative evidence of a current incident. User reports can be delayed, duplicated, geographically concentrated or caused by a shared login problem.

Use official support information for confirmation. If you consult a third-party page, compare its timestamp, location and symptom with your own experience, then verify the result with myFICO or the lender that operates your account. Do not enter credentials into a status-reporting site.
Protect your account while troubleshooting
- Use the official provider domain or the app obtained through your device’s normal app store.
- Do not give passwords, one-time codes, security-question answers or full payment details to anyone claiming to investigate an outage.
- Do not assume that an urgent message or a search advertisement is an official support notice.
- Keep screenshots free of personal identifiers before attaching them to an email.
- Record the time, time zone, device, route and exact error so you can describe the incident consistently.
- If a financial decision is time-sensitive, tell the creditor or lender that the score-access route is unavailable and ask what documentation or alternate process it accepts. An alternate score source may not satisfy a specific lender’s requirements.
A compact decision path
- Name the operator: myFICO, a lender or another authorized distributor.
- Retry once through the official route: record the exact error and time.
- Test a supported alternative: website versus app, or another device you control.
- Check account help: use password-reset and account-unlock guidance before calling it an outage.
- Classify the failure: login, account dashboard, score display or complete site access.
- Contact the operator: use myFICO’s published phone or email route for myFICO accounts, or the lender’s support channel for lender portals.
- Confirm before reporting: treat an official acknowledgment as confirmation; treat alternate scores and third-party reports as context only.
The practical verdict
The reliable way to check a suspected FICO score-service outage is to identify the access provider, retry its official route, rule out account and login problems, compare a supported route when available, and ask the operator’s support team for confirmation. A single failed login—or even a working alternate score source—cannot establish that myFICO is down. Keep the distinction between service availability and score calculation clear: inability to retrieve a score is not evidence that the score or your credit report changed.
