For a decision about going outside now, check NEA’s latest regional 1-hour PM2.5 reading and its personal activity guide. For an outing tomorrow or one lasting several hours, check NEA’s 24-hour PSI forecast and health advisory, then look at PM2.5 again on the day. Both are available from the National Environment Agency (NEA), NEA’s website, haze.gov.sg and the myENV app.
Where to check Singapore’s official air-quality readings
NEA identifies the air-quality information it reports as Singapore’s official air-quality data. NEA and the Ministry of Health (MOH) direct the public to NEA’s website, haze.gov.sg and myENV for readings and haze advisories. During haze periods, these channels carry the 24-hour PSI forecast and daily advisory. See NEA’s air-quality FAQ for how the measures work and how to use them.
Third-party air-quality apps may display another country’s AQI scale. Do not treat those labels or values as interchangeable with Singapore’s PSI or NEA’s 1-hour PM2.5 bands.
Find readings in myENV
In NEA’s 2026 myENV user guide, the route is Settings > Features & Alerts > Air Quality. Enable Air Quality, return to the landing page, then select 24-hr PSI, 1-hr PM2.5 or Regional Haze. App labels can change; these are the labels and steps in the 2026 guide. Read NEA’s myENV user guide.

Which reading to use before going outside
| Reading | What it measures | Best use | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-hour PM2.5 | PM2.5 concentration averaged over the past hour, shown in µg/m³ | Deciding whether to go for a walk, run or other activity soon | It can fluctuate during the day, especially during transboundary haze. Check the latest regional value before leaving. |
| 24-hour PSI | An index calculated from 24-hour averages of six pollutants: PM10, PM2.5, sulphur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone and carbon monoxide (CO) | Planning for the next day or an activity lasting many hours; use the forecast and health advisory when issued during haze periods | It is intended to be less volatile than hourly PM2.5. On the day, also check 1-hour PM2.5 for the immediate decision. |
The two figures are not readings on the same scale: 1-hour PM2.5 is a concentration, not a “1-hour PSI.” NEA says it does not use 1-hour PSI for health findings. Use the PM2.5 guide for the current reading and PSI guidance for longer-duration exposure. NEA explains the measures and their intended uses.
If the activity is today
Check the latest 1-hour PM2.5 for your region and consult the personal guide alongside it. NEA says these readings are meant for immediate decisions, such as whether to walk or run outdoors. The National Environment Agency and Ministry of Health also advise people planning activities within the same day to monitor the hourly readings closely and check the latest value before proceeding. See the NEA and MOH announcement dated 13 July 2020.

- 【Professional 10-in-1 Air Quality Monitor】This professional 10-in-1 air quality monitor accurately measures carbon dioxide (CO2), formaldehyde (HCHO), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), temperature, humidity, AQI, PM2.5, PM1.0, PM10 in real time, and features a clock (Connect your phone to the monitor via Bluetooth: MT13S, and it will automatically calibrate the time). It helps you keep track of your indoor air quality at a glance, making it ideal for home use.
- 【3-Color Visualization System】This CO2 detector features a high-definition color screen that displays data in real time, ensuring clear readings. It provides a comprehensive assessment of air quality and tracks the average concentration of each gas, enabling data visualization. When air quality exceeds safety thresholds, the screen intelligently changes color, allowing potential air quality risks to be detected immediately—even from a distance.
- 【High Accuracy and Reliability】Built with a high-performance smart chip and advanced sensor array, this tester adopts dedicated intelligent sensing technology for CO2 detection, paired with precision electrochemical sensors for HCHO and TVOC monitoring. Unlike ordinary detectors, it features smart calibration and stable sensitivity, ensuring long-term accurate data output without frequent manual adjustments.
- 【Simple Operation】Air Quality Tester: Press and hold the "Power button" for 3 seconds to turn the air quality monitor on or off, and it automatically initiates full-range detection the moment it’s turned on; and press once to switch temperature settings ℃/℉; press twice to turn the sound on or off; press 3 times to enter the calibration mode; press 4 times to put the screen to sleep(then press once to wake the screen). You can calibrate the time by connecting your phone to the MT13S via Bluetooth.
- 【Wide Range of Applications】This compact and portable indoor air quality monitor can measure air quality in bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, offices, cars, schools, hotels, basements, restaurants, campsites, and other environments. It is suitable for use in homes, vehicles, grow rooms, maternity and infant care rooms, and public spaces.
If the activity is tomorrow or will last several hours
Use the 24-hour PSI forecast and accompanying health advisory for advance planning when NEA issues them during haze periods. Because the forecast is less volatile, NEA says it is more suitable for next-day plans and events lasting many hours. Recheck 1-hour PM2.5 on the activity day before deciding whether to proceed outdoors or move the activity indoors.
How to interpret PSI categories and activity guidance
Singapore’s 24-hour PSI categories are:
| Category | 24-hour PSI |
|---|---|
| Good | 0–50 |
| Moderate | 51–100 |
| Unhealthy | 101–200 |
| Very Unhealthy | 201–300 |
| Hazardous | Above 300 |
Activity advice depends on both the PSI category and the person’s health group. At Unhealthy levels, healthy people should reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor exertion. Elderly people, pregnant women and children should minimise it; people with chronic lung or heart disease should avoid it. Advice becomes more restrictive at higher PSI levels and differs by group, so follow the current NEA haze guidance and MOH haze advice rather than applying one rule to everyone.

- Pre-Calibrated & Ready to Use – Factory-calibrated for hassle-free startup. For most accurate readings, avoid using alcohol, perfumes, disinfectant sprays, or strong cleaning agents near the device during testing. Also allow 10 minutes for warm-up after moving between hot and cold environments – this ensures stable, reliable data every time.
- Prolonged means continuous exposure for several hours.
- Strenuous means activity involving substantial energy or effort.
For 1-hour PM2.5, use NEA’s personal guide and the band descriptor shown with the reading. Do not convert the concentration with another country’s AQI calculator: NEA says AQI systems use different breakpoints and descriptors, and Singapore’s bands were developed for local conditions. The NEA FAQ explains the local guidance.
Make the decision close to departure
- Choose the time window. For an outing starting soon, open the latest 1-hour PM2.5 reading. For tomorrow or a multi-hour event during haze, check the 24-hour PSI forecast and health advisory.
- Check the relevant region and your group’s advice. Read the accompanying personal guide; account for any specific guidance for children, elderly people, pregnant women, or people with chronic heart or lung disease.
- Recheck before setting out. Hourly PM2.5 can change during the day. If conditions or the guidance do not support the planned outdoor exertion, reduce it, postpone it or move it indoors.
- For a planned event, check again on the day. An advance PSI forecast helps with planning but does not replace the latest hourly reading for an immediate choice.
Example: why a dated reading is not a current answer
NEA’s advisory at 5pm on 6 October 2026 reported 1-hour PM2.5 of 73–103 µg/m³, described as Band 2, Elevated, and a 24-hour PSI of 102–135, described as Unhealthy. NEA directed the public to use 1-hour PM2.5 for immediate activities and PSI for planning ahead. Those values describe that specific time and date, not present conditions; use the live official channels for a decision now. Read NEA’s 6 October 2026 advisory.
