How to Check How Much You’ve Spent on Steam

To see the total external funds applied to your Steam account, sign in and open Help → Steam Support → My Account → Data Related to Your Steam Account → External Funds Used. Steam labels the main figure TotalSpend. It is an account-level total, not a guaranteed, perfectly current ledger of every expense; use purchase history to inspect individual transactions.

Find Steam’s External Funds Used page

  1. Sign in to Steam in the client or on the website.
  2. Open Help → Steam Support → My Account → Data Related to Your Steam Account → External Funds Used.
  3. Review the account data shown on the page. The direct address is Steam’s External Funds Used page; it requires you to be signed in.

Steam’s support explanation says the figures “are calculated only when needed and are not always current.” If the values are missing, the explanation says they may not currently be stored in Valve’s database. That does not mean your transaction history is unavailable.

What TotalSpend and the other fields mean

TotalSpend

TotalSpend is the total external funds applied to your Steam account. Steam’s explanation says this can include funds applied to buy items on the Steam Store or to fund your Steam Wallet. The figure is also used to determine whether an account is a Limited User Account. It is not the current retail value of the games in your library.

OldSpend

OldSpend is external funds applied before Friday, April 17, 2015 at 18:00:00 UTC. It is a separate historical field, not an additional amount to add to TotalSpend without checking how Steam presents the account’s values.

Use purchase history for a transaction-by-transaction review

For the individual purchases behind an aggregate—or to find a specific charge—open the account-name menu and choose Account Details → View purchase history. Steam documents this as the way to review purchases. Wallet funds are used by default for purchases unless you change the intended payment method on the purchase confirmation screen.

Purchase history and a bank statement can show different amounts. Steam notes that banks in some countries may add processing fees, taxes, or currency-conversion charges; those charges are set by the payment provider, not Steam. When reconciling a purchase, compare the Steam transaction with any separate fees or conversion applied by your bank.

Why SteamDB’s calculator is not a spending total

SteamDB’s calculator estimates account or library value; it does not retrieve Steam’s private transaction total. Estimated library value and money applied to an account measure different things. Gifts, wallet funding, discounts, ownership, and the prices used to value a library can all make the figures diverge. Use External Funds Used for Steam’s aggregate and purchase history for transactions, rather than treating a library estimate as money spent.
