To switch the Amazon Shopping app to another marketplace on your iPhone, open the app, tap the person or account tab, tap the country flag near the top of the screen, and choose a country or region. Select a language and currency if prompted. This changes the storefront you browse; it does not by itself move your Amazon account or change your iPhone’s Apple Account country.
Change the Amazon shopping country on iPhone
- Open the Amazon Shopping app and sign in to the account you want to use.
- Tap the person icon or user/account tab.
- Tap the current country flag, usually near the top-right of the screen.
- Choose the country or region for the marketplace you want to browse.
- If prompted, choose a language and currency, then confirm.
- Return to shopping and check that the marketplace shown is the one you selected.
Amazon documents this route as the user tab followed by the current country flag. The precise layout can vary with app version, account, and marketplace. The app supports multiple Amazon marketplaces, but the options displayed can vary by location and availability. Amazon’s country-switching guide and the Amazon Shopping App Store listing describe the feature.
Which country setting do you need?
| Your goal | Setting to use | What it addresses |
|---|---|---|
| Browse or compare another Amazon store | Country flag in the Amazon Shopping app | Changes the shopping storefront, not the account’s home country. |
| Have orders sent to a different place | Shipping address and, if needed, default address in your Amazon account | Changes the delivery destination and can affect which items are eligible and the delivery estimate. |
| You have permanently moved and want your account based in the new region | Content and Devices > Preferences > Country/Region Settings | Starts Amazon’s account-country transfer process, which can affect digital content and services. |
| Kindle or other digital content is associated with the wrong region | Content and Devices > Preferences > Country/Region Settings | Addresses the account’s digital-content country, rather than just the shopping storefront. |
| Your iPhone App Store or Apple media country is wrong | Apple Account country/region settings | Changes Apple’s region; it is separate from Amazon. |
What changes when you switch storefronts
The app will show the selected marketplace’s catalog and regional shopping experience. Product availability, displayed prices and currency, promotions, delivery options, and estimated delivery can differ between Amazon stores. A product appearing in the other marketplace does not mean it can be shipped to your address. Before ordering internationally, check the item’s delivery eligibility and the checkout total, which may include shipping, taxes, or import charges.
The country selector may also offer a different language or currency display. A display-currency choice should not be confused with changing the account’s country or the payment method’s billing country.

What a storefront switch does not do
- It does not transfer your Amazon account from its original country or automatically change the country associated with Kindle and other digital services.
- It does not change your iPhone’s Apple Account region.
- It does not guarantee that your payment method will be accepted in the selected marketplace, that an item will ship to you, or that Prime benefits will be the same there.
- It does not transfer gift-card balances between Amazon websites.
- It does not guarantee that subscriptions, digital purchases, or content availability will remain the same across regions.
Amazon says that selecting another country lets you view and shop another Amazon site while your account remains linked to its original country. Creating a separate account is not a shortcut for moving purchases: Amazon says purchases are not shared between separate accounts. See Amazon’s explanation of country switching and account transfers.
If you have moved permanently: transfer the Amazon account country
If you have genuinely relocated and want your Amazon account’s home region changed, use Amazon’s account-country process rather than relying on the storefront flag. Amazon’s documented path is:

- In the Amazon app or on Amazon’s website, open the user/account tab and select Account.
- Open Content and Devices, then Preferences.
- Under Country/Region Settings, select Change.
- Enter or select an address in the new country and choose Update.
- Read and follow the on-screen eligibility and transfer instructions before confirming.
Menu placement can vary. If you cannot find Content and Devices in the app, sign in through a browser and open Manage Your Content and Devices, then go to Preferences > Country/Region Settings > Change. Amazon may redirect you to a local marketplace; confirm you are signed into the intended account. Its country and region help page provides related account-setting guidance.
Check digital content and subscriptions before confirming
Amazon says an eligible account transfer can move qualifying digital content to the new region and allow Kindle Store purchases in the local currency. That is not a promise that every title, rental, membership, or service will carry over unchanged. Review Amazon’s transfer warnings and the terms shown for each service before you proceed.

- Kindle: Store access and availability can depend on the account’s country. Check the transfer details for your books and Kindle services.
- Kindle Unlimited: Amazon community support notes that a country change may cancel the subscription and return borrowed titles. Check the account-specific notice before transferring. Amazon’s discussion of changing regions with a Kindle describes this possible effect.
- Audible, Prime Video, Amazon Music, apps, games, and other subscriptions: Regional catalogs, eligibility, billing, and availability may differ. Do not assume an existing membership or purchase will work identically in the new region.
If only the delivery destination is wrong
Update the address in your Amazon account rather than transferring the account country if you only need orders delivered somewhere else. Then select the intended delivery address and check the product page and checkout: sellers, shipping restrictions, delivery estimates, and total charges vary by item and destination. An address change is not the same as changing the shopping-country selector or the digital-content country.
If the flag is missing or prices still look wrong
- Make sure you are using Amazon Shopping, not Kindle, Prime Video, Audible, or another Amazon app.
- Sign in to the Amazon account you intend to use, then check the user/account tab for the flag.
- Update Amazon Shopping in the App Store, force-close it, and reopen it. These steps can refresh the app interface; they do not transfer the account country.
- If the selector is unavailable in the app, try signing in to Amazon in Safari.
- If the issue is with Kindle or another digital service, use Account > Content and Devices > Preferences > Country/Region Settings instead of the storefront selector.
- If the marketplace is right but the currency is not, recheck the country selection and any currency option it offers. Also distinguish the displayed currency from your payment method’s billing currency and the account’s digital-content country.
- Check that your delivery address and payment method are suitable for the marketplace. If the account is locked to the wrong region or the transfer warning is unclear, contact Amazon Customer Service before confirming a transfer.
Amazon country versus iPhone country
Changing Amazon’s shopping marketplace does not change the country or region for your iPhone’s App Store or Apple media services. Apple handles that separately at Settings > [your name] > Media & Purchases > View Account > Country/Region. Apple may require you to address account balance, subscriptions, pending transactions, and a valid local payment method before changing regions. Follow Apple’s country or region change instructions if the issue is with Apple rather than Amazon.

Can you use another marketplace temporarily?
Yes. For browsing or comparing products, use the country flag selector; it changes the storefront without initiating an account-country transfer. Ordering from that store is a separate question: confirm that the item ships to your destination and review all charges at checkout. For region-restricted digital content, a storefront switch is not a substitute for the relevant account-country process. A VPN does not establish a valid residence, delivery address, or payment eligibility, so do not use one to misrepresent those details or bypass regional restrictions.
