To stop future Hostinger charges, open hPanel and go to Billing → Subscriptions, select the relevant service, and switch off auto-renewal. If the service is eligible for a refund and you want it terminated now, use Paid invoices → Refund. To erase the entire Hostinger profile, remove every active service and domain first, then use Profile → Account Information → Delete account.
These are different actions: canceling hosting does not cancel a domain, disabling renewal does not reverse a completed charge, and deleting your profile is an irreversible final step.
Choose the outcome you need
| Goal | Action | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Stop another renewal but keep using the service | Disable auto-renewal | The service normally remains active until its paid expiration date. |
| End the service now and seek money back | Request a refund from Paid invoices | If approved and processed, the service ends immediately and associated data is erased. |
| Close the Hostinger profile | Delete the account after all services and domains are gone | The profile is permanently deleted after email confirmation and cannot be recovered. |
Hostinger treats hosting, VPS, email, Game Panel, domains and other subscriptions separately. Follow the current instructions in Hostinger’s cancellation guide; menu labels can change.
Before you cancel: protect your site, mail and domain
Complete this checklist before disabling renewal, requesting a refund or allowing a service to expire:
#1 Best Overall
- Download website files and verify that the downloaded archive opens.
- Export databases and save database credentials.
- Back up mail messages, recreate mailboxes at the new provider and record incoming/outgoing server settings.
- Copy every DNS record, including A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.
- Check whether the domain is registered at Hostinger, note its expiration date and record any transfer lock or authorization requirements.
- Save invoices, receipts and payment records.
- Activate replacement hosting and confirm where the site and email will run next.
Hostinger warns that terminating a service can permanently delete files, databases and email. Website Builder backups may not be downloadable locally; Hostinger describes exporting Website Builder content to WordPress as an alternative. Hostinger Horizons sites can export their code. Check the relevant product’s export method before you cancel.
Option 1: turn off Hostinger auto-renewal
- Sign in to hPanel.
- Open Billing, then Subscriptions.
- Find the hosting plan, VPS, email subscription, domain or other service.
- Switch off the Auto-renewal toggle.
- Confirm the change and save the confirmation email or a screenshot.
Disabling renewal generally keeps the service available through the paid term. Hostinger’s current guide says the service is then automatically canceled and deleted after expiration. This prevents future renewals but does not refund a charge that has already completed; check refund eligibility separately.
Option 2: cancel immediately and request a refund
Use this route only after backups are complete. A processed refund can take the site, database and email offline immediately.
- In hPanel, open Paid invoices.
- Locate the invoice for the service.
- Click Refund.
- Follow the on-screen questions and select an available refund method.
- Confirm the request and retain the confirmation.
The Refund control is a practical eligibility check. If the invoice is absent or the button is unavailable, do not assume a technical fault; review the refund instructions and the full Hostinger refund policy, or contact support.

Is your Hostinger purchase refundable?
Hostinger’s current policy describes a 30-day guarantee for eligible purchases made by methods other than cryptocurrency. Listed categories include new purchases and renewals of Web, Cloud, Agency, KVM VPS and Game Panel hosting; new purchases, renewals and upgrades for Hostinger Email and Titan Email; and certain Web, Cloud and Agency upgrades.
- The 30-day period is not a universal promise for every product or transaction.
- Cryptocurrency payments are excluded from the listed guarantee.
- Domains, domain renewals, add-ons and other products have separate rules, eligible extensions and time limits.
- If a hosting plan included a free domain, Hostinger may deduct that domain’s standard price from the refund.
- A refund can terminate the service immediately, so data must be copied first.
Use the invoice-level refund option and the policy’s product-specific terms rather than assuming that every renewal qualifies. Hostinger’s FAQ also directs customers to separate domain rules: Hostinger FAQ.
How to delete your Hostinger profile permanently
Profile deletion is not the normal way to stop a renewal. Hostinger says the account must have no active services, domains or pending balance.
- Sign in to the Hostinger account you want to close.
- Open the profile menu and choose Account Information.
- Scroll to Account deletion and select Delete account.
- Read the warning, select the acknowledgment checkbox and click Delete.
- Check your inbox, Spam and Updates folders for Hostinger’s confirmation email.
- Open it and click Delete my data.
Deletion takes effect after that confirmation and cannot be recovered. It applies only to the specific Hostinger brand/account you are using; a separate regional Hostinger account is not automatically removed. Hostinger’s privacy policy explains that some de-personalized or legally required records may still be retained: privacy policy.

Cancel hosting while keeping your domain
Turn off auto-renewal or cancel only the hosting subscription. Leave the domain active and renew it separately if you still need it. Before the old hosting expires:
- Point the domain’s DNS records or nameservers to the replacement host.
- Recreate and test website email, including MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.
- Keep the domain in Hostinger until a transfer completes, or transfer it to another registrar using the registrar’s required authorization process.
- Do not delete the Hostinger profile while the domain remains there if you still need domain management.
Canceling one selected subscription does not automatically cancel the domain or other Hostinger services.
Migrate before cancellation
- Purchase or activate the replacement hosting.
- Copy files and databases using the method appropriate to WordPress, standard hosting, VPS or Website Builder.
- Recreate mailboxes and migrate messages.
- Test the site on the new host, including SSL, forms, redirects, cron jobs and logins.
- Lower DNS TTL before the switch when practical.
- Update DNS records or nameservers.
- Verify the site and email from more than one network while DNS propagates.
- Only after verification, disable Hostinger renewal or request cancellation.
When a cancellation, refund or deletion control is missing
- Confirm you are in the correct Hostinger account and regional brand.
- Use Billing → Subscriptions, not only the website-management screen.
- Look under Paid invoices for the refund control.
- Check whether the service is already expired, unpaid or attached to another account.
- Make sure you are the account owner. A user with granted access cannot delete the account and has restrictions on payment and domain actions; see Hostinger’s granted-access explanation.
- If the billing state is unclear or you cannot access the account email, contact Hostinger support and keep screenshots of the attempted cancellation and correspondence.
After cancellation: check the consequences
- Auto-renewal disabled: access normally continues until expiration.
- Refund processed: the selected service ends immediately and associated data is erased.
- Expiration reached: Hostinger’s current guide says the service is canceled and deleted.
- Other subscriptions: remain active unless separately canceled.
- Domain: remains a separate registration that must be renewed, transferred or allowed to expire independently.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does canceling Hostinger delete my website immediately?
Not when you only disable auto-renewal: the service normally remains active until its paid expiration date. A processed refund, however, can terminate the service and erase associated data immediately.
Can I get a refund after an automatic renewal?
Possibly, but eligibility depends on the product, payment method, purchase type and policy time limits. Check the invoice’s Refund control and Hostinger’s current refund policy.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCan I cancel hosting but keep my domain?
Yes. Cancel or disable renewal for the hosting subscription only, keep the domain active, and point its DNS to the new host before hosting ends.
How do I stop Hostinger charging my card?
Disable auto-renewal for each relevant subscription under hPanel → Billing → Subscriptions. This prevents future renewals but does not automatically reverse a completed charge.
Can I delete my Hostinger account with an active domain?
No. Hostinger says active services, domains or a pending balance must be cleared before profile deletion is available.
What happens to Hostinger email after cancellation?
Mailboxes and messages associated with a terminated service may be permanently deleted. Migrate messages and recreate mailboxes before cancellation.

Why is the Refund button missing?
The invoice or product may not qualify through that route, the service may be unpaid or expired, or you may be in the wrong account. Review the policy and contact support if necessary.
Can I recover a deleted Hostinger account?
No. Hostinger states that confirmed profile deletion cannot be recovered.
Does disabling auto-renewal cancel the current billing period?
No. It normally leaves the service active through the already-paid term.
What if I cannot access my Hostinger email?
Complete account recovery or contact Hostinger support before attempting the confirmation-email step required for profile deletion.
