A cryptocurrency send to a wallet address cannot be canceled once initiated—even if its status is pending.
Start by identifying the transaction type and status in your Coinbase history, then follow the matching steps below.
First, identify the transaction type
In your Coinbase transaction history, check whether the item is a crypto transfer to a blockchain address, a payment sent to a phone number or email address, or a trading order. The word “pending” does not mean every type of transaction can be canceled; the available action depends on what is pending.

Cancel an unaccepted payment sent to an email or phone number
Coinbase documents cancellation for a payment that remains pending because the recipient has not accepted it. Use Coinbase.com; Coinbase’s UK help page says this action is not available in its mobile app. Availability and interface details may vary by region.

- Sign in at Coinbase.com.
- Select the asset used for the payment.
- Open the pending transaction.
- Select Cancel payment and follow the confirmation prompt.
Coinbase says the funds return to your balance after cancellation. If the recipient does not accept the payment, Coinbase says the transfer is otherwise returned after 30 days. See Coinbase’s pending transaction guidance.
Cancel an open or pending trading order
You can cancel a trading order only before it executes. Coinbase’s documented Advanced order flow applies to US customers; interface availability, including some Advanced mobile access, may vary as features roll out.

- Open Transactions and then Open orders. In Advanced, open the Orders tab.
- Select the order you want to cancel.
- Choose the cancel option and confirm.
If the order has filled only in part, canceling can apply only to its unfilled remainder. A completed order cannot be canceled. See Coinbase’s order-management instructions.
If you sent crypto to a wallet address
Coinbase states, “Due to the nature of digital currency protocols, transactions cannot be cancelled or altered once they are initiated.” That applies even when a send is still pending; pending status by itself does not create a cancel option. See Coinbase’s cryptocurrency transaction guidance.

If you sent funds to the wrong address, contact the recipient and ask whether they can return them. If you do not know who controls the address, recovery may be impossible. Coinbase cannot reverse an on-chain transfer; its guidance for a wrong-address send is at Crypto sent to the wrong address.
When a crypto send is pending
A pending send may be waiting for network confirmations or affected by congestion, fees, syncing, or another processing issue. Check the transaction details and status, wait at least 30 minutes, then use the block-explorer link there to check confirmations. Coinbase advises contacting support if confirmations remain at zero. These checks can help explain a delay; they do not cancel the send. See Coinbase’s pending-transaction troubleshooting steps.

If Coinbase canceled your purchase or transfer
Coinbase lists security checks, a rejected bank payment, a timed-out confirmation screen, and reaching a buy limit among common reasons it may cancel a purchase or transfer. Check your transaction history for the status. If your bank was involved, ask the bank why it rejected or canceled the payment; contact Coinbase Support if you need further review. If Coinbase charged you for a canceled order, it says the funds will be returned within 5–7 business days. This is Coinbase’s stated refund timeframe for that situation; check with your bank if the return does not appear after that period.
