You can no longer buy SpaceX stock “before an IPO”: SpaceX completed its IPO in June 2026. Its Class A shares trade under ticker SPCX. To look for shares now, search for SPCX through a brokerage that supports the security in your jurisdiction, then review the order details and risks before investing.
What changed: SpaceX has completed its IPO
SpaceX’s IPO registration statement became effective on June 11, 2026. Trading in its Class A common stock began on June 12, 2026, on the Nasdaq Global Select Market and Nasdaq Texas under the ticker SPCX; the issuance closed on June 15. SpaceX reported issuing 638,888,888 Class A shares and approximately $85.7 billion in gross IPO proceeds. SpaceX’s closing announcement contains the company’s figures and dates.

This was a direct IPO and public listing, not a SPAC merger. A SPAC is a shell company formed to seek a business combination; the SEC explains the general structure in its SPAC investor bulletin.

How to look for SPCX shares now
- Check that your brokerage supports the stock. Search for the exact ticker, SPCX, and confirm the company and share class in the security details. A listing does not guarantee that every broker or investor in every country can trade it.
- Review the order screen before submitting. Confirm the share quantity, order type, any displayed fees, and the estimated total. Broker features and charges vary; no particular broker’s SPCX availability or terms are established here.
- Consider your risk and time horizon. A listed stock can rise or fall, and an IPO does not guarantee future performance. Invest only on terms that fit your circumstances, rather than treating the listing or the company’s size as a promise of returns.
SpaceX’s announcement verifies the listing and ticker, but not which brokers support SPCX, account eligibility, fees, order handling, or access from a particular country. Check those details with your brokerage and local rules before placing an order.

Why private-market access is different
Before the listing, some investors might have sought exposure through private-company secondary transactions or private-company funds. Those are not the same as buying publicly traded SPCX shares: a secondary transaction involves an interest in a private company, while a fund gives an investor an interest in the fund rather than direct ownership of publicly listed stock.
Nasdaq Private Market describes direct purchases and managed funds, but its general information does not establish that SpaceX shares are available there now. The platform says buyers must be SEC-accredited investors and transactions require issuer approval. It also warns that liquidity varies, information may be limited, valuations may differ from financing-round references, and an investor can lose the entire investment. Company names or logos displayed on a platform do not by themselves indicate endorsement or current availability. See Nasdaq Private Market’s explanation of buying and selling private-company stock.

What to take from the “before an IPO” wording
For SpaceX, “before an IPO” is now historical: the IPO has taken place. The current public-market route is to check SPCX through a brokerage that serves your jurisdiction. Private-company interests are a separate, restricted and potentially illiquid investment—not a guaranteed way to obtain SPCX.
