Yes—U.S. shoppers can buy from Mercari Japan through Mercari Japan’s own cross-border service. Mercari arranges the purchase from the Japanese seller, routes the item through a Japanese warehouse for a limited visual inspection, and coordinates international shipping and tracking. You can also use a proxy service, but its fees and terms vary. This is separate from Mercari x Japan in the Mercari US marketplace, which ended after June 2026.
How do I buy from Mercari Japan in the USA?
Mercari Japan’s U.S. service has its own app experience, account, and terms. After registering, you can browse translated listings, check out in your local currency, and follow shipping and tracking in the app. Mercari arranges the purchase from the Japanese seller on your behalf.
- Register with Mercari Japan. Use the service’s U.S. app experience and review its current purchase terms.
- Check the listing carefully. Read the details and inspect the photos, quantity, and included contents. Mercari warns that translations may be imperfect.
- Review the total at checkout. The amount typically includes the item price, service fee, international shipping, and estimated duties and taxes. The shipping fee depends on the item and destination.
- Place the order. The Japanese seller sends the item to Mercari’s designated warehouse. You cannot choose the seller’s domestic shipping method to that warehouse.
- Track international delivery in the app. Mercari checks the received item against the listing’s visible details, then coordinates international shipping to the address entered at purchase.
Mercari says it guarantees handoff of the item to an international carrier within 30 days of the order. That is a carrier-handoff commitment, not a promise that the package will arrive within 30 days. See Mercari Japan’s purchasing guide for Taiwan and the U.S.
Does Mercari Japan ship to the USA?
Mercari Japan’s current guide for Taiwan and the United States lists EMS and Mercari Global Shipping. The seller first ships domestically to Mercari’s designated Japanese warehouse; Mercari then coordinates the international leg. Mercari says sellers generally have up to 14 days to ship domestically, but does not give a delivery-time estimate here for the full journey.

Shipping eligibility and available methods depend on the destination and package. Mercari says Mercari Global Shipping may not be available for some destinations or packages, including food or supplements, beverages, batteries or power tools, medical supplies, and items exceeding courier size restrictions. Its terms also identify restricted goods such as weapons, hazardous materials, pharmaceuticals, and goods barred by applicable laws or logistics-partner rules. Check the listing and current checkout eligibility before ordering.
How much does Mercari Japan shipping cost?
There is no single shipping rate established for every U.S. order. Mercari says the international fee varies by item size and weight and by destination, and appears at checkout. Check the amount for the specific item before paying rather than relying on a general estimate.

Mercari says the checkout total typically includes the listing price, service fee, international shipping, and estimated duties and taxes. For U.S. shipments, its shipping guide says estimated import duties are collected at checkout and are final even if actual duties differ. Customs or a carrier may rarely require additional action, so the checkout estimate should not be treated as a guarantee that no further action or cost can ever arise. See the current shipping guide.
What does Mercari’s warehouse inspection cover?
The warehouse check is limited: Mercari compares the item received with the listing images for visible discrepancies, quantity, or contents. It does not test whether the item works and does not authenticate it. Do not treat the check as a product test or an authenticity guarantee.

Mercari also cautions that AI-translated descriptions may be imperfect. Review the original photos and listing details closely before ordering, especially when condition, model, dimensions, or included accessories matter. Mercari’s U.S. service page says, “Since translations may not always be perfect, please review item photos and details carefully before purchasing.” Mercari Japan’s U.S. service page
Can I use a proxy to buy from Mercari Japan?
Yes. A proxy service can buy a Japanese listing on behalf of an overseas customer and handle overseas shipping and customs. Mercari’s help center identifies connected providers including Buyee, FROM JAPAN, Neokyo, and Zenmarket. That connection label does not establish each provider’s current fees, coverage, or availability for every listing.

- Digital tabletop postal scale for quickly and precisely weighing items
- Includes a shipping postal scale and AC adapter; made of durable black ABS, aluminum, and iron
- 65 pound (30kg) capacity reads to 0.1 ounce (1g) in 0.1 ounce increments; minimum load weight is 0.2 ounces (5g)
- Extra large LCD display for easy viewing; measuring units in ounces, pounds, g, and kg
- Tare function for resetting the scale to zero after setting a container on the platform; great for net weights
Compare the provider’s current terms with Mercari Japan’s direct service before choosing. Look at the final checkout total, service fee, exchange-rate treatment, shipping choices, package consolidation rules, item eligibility, inspection scope, and its process for damage or listing discrepancies. Mercari’s comparison page notes that proxy services often charge shipping separately, but confirm the specific provider’s terms rather than assuming that applies to every service. Official sources do not establish a complete provider-by-provider price or shipping comparison, so there is no sound basis here to name a universally cheapest option.
Mercari’s list of connected providers is in its help-center information about cross-border purchasing services; its service comparison page discusses the direct and proxy models.

Can I cancel or return a Mercari Japan order?
Mercari’s purchasing guide says customer-requested cancellations after placing an order are not accepted. Sales are final on delivery, with no ordinary returns or exchanges. If an item is damaged in transit or significantly differs from its listing, you may apply for a refund within 14 days of delivery. Mercari reviews each request; a refund is not automatic. Read the purchasing guide before placing an order.
Is Mercari x Japan still available on Mercari US?
No. Mercari’s U.S. help page says Mercari x Japan would no longer be available in the Mercari US marketplace after June 2026, and international orders through BEENOS could no longer be placed there after that point. That change concerns the Mercari US marketplace feature; it is distinct from Mercari Japan’s own U.S. purchasing service described above. Mercari directs customers to Mercari Japan for current shipping, customs, and tariff information. See the Mercari US transition notice.
