How to Buy a .CO Domain Through Bluehost: Steps, Prices and Renewal Costs

Bluehost’s .CO registration flow is straightforward, but its published prices differ. Here’s how to check availability and confirm registration, renewal and privacy costs.

You can register a .CO domain with Bluehost by searching for your preferred name, selecting an available option, adding it to your cart and completing checkout. Before paying, verify the exact registration term, renewal price and any privacy charge: Bluehost’s own pages show different .CO prices.

How to register a .CO domain with Bluehost

  1. Open Bluehost’s .CO domain page and enter the name you want in the domain search tool.
  2. Check the results and select a .CO name marked available. A name is not yours until Bluehost confirms availability and you complete checkout.
  3. Add the selected domain to your cart. Review the registration term, the amount due now, the renewal rate and any privacy option shown in the order.
  4. Complete checkout and keep a record of the purchase and renewal terms. After registration, use your Bluehost account’s domain-management area to review the domain and its renewal settings.

How much does a .CO domain cost at Bluehost?

Bluehost’s published prices conflict. Its US .CO landing page displayed $9 for the first year and $23.99 for renewal. Its general domain price list displayed $29.99 for registration and $37.99 for renewal, and listed .CO privacy at $15. These are page-specific price snapshots, not a confirmed single price or guaranteed offer; Bluehost says prices can change. Check the term and full total at checkout, then confirm the renewal amount in your account’s renewal center.

Bluehost’s domain price list shows a privacy price, while its general domain page describes WHOIS privacy protection. The pages do not establish whether privacy is included with every .CO purchase or optional in every checkout. Check whether it is selected, what it covers and what it costs before placing the order. The same caution applies to domain locking, expiration protection and other management features: review the details for your specific purchase rather than assuming they are free or included.

What is a .CO domain?

Bluehost describes .CO as Colombia’s country-code domain extension, relaunched in 2010 for global use. It can work as a brand address for a business, organization or personal project, but the extension alone does not make a name suitable or available. Check that the full name is clear, fits your brand and is easy for your intended audience to recognize.

Should you choose .CO or .COM?

Compare the options using the name you can actually register and the total cost over time. Bluehost positions .COM as more familiar and .CO as a possible alternative when the preferred .COM is unavailable or a more modern-sounding extension is wanted. That is Bluehost’s positioning, not independent evidence that one extension performs better for every business.

  • Familiarity: Consider which ending your customers are more likely to expect and remember.
  • Availability: Search for both versions. A preferred .COM being unavailable may make .CO worth considering, but check for confusion with an existing name.
  • Brand fit: Say the complete domain aloud and check that the extension does not make the name unclear.
  • Long-term cost: Compare the renewal price and any privacy charge, not only the first-year amount.

Do .CO domains affect SEO or rankings?

Bluehost says Google treats .CO as a generic top-level domain and that there is no SEO disadvantage compared with .COM. That is Bluehost’s claim; the material available here does not independently verify it against Google documentation. Do not treat the extension as a guarantee of equal search performance or rankings. Choose a name that supports a clear, trustworthy identity, and assess SEO separately from the domain ending.

How to transfer an existing .CO domain to Bluehost

Transferring a domain you already own is different from registering a new one. Bluehost’s domain transfer page displayed a .CO transfer price of $12.99. Its transfer material says a transfer fee generally covers a one-year extension, but that transfer amount is not the price of a new .CO registration. Before starting, check that your domain meets Bluehost’s current eligibility requirements and follow the transfer instructions shown there; confirm the current fee and any extension details before submitting the request.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
